    U917 error

I'm trying to import the address book from a 3051ci to a 3552ci and I'm getting the following error: E4008 - Invalid File Header.

I'm able to import the data successfully to another 3051ci but not to the newer model.

    Anyone?

Hit the download page for the latest model you are using (or 3/4 series) and get the SETUP TOOL.

You will use it to import the old 917 file(s), select the model to convert the file(s) to, and it will modify the file for the newer device.

I'm guessing that the SETUP TOOL is only available on the dealer portal? Unfortunately, I don't have access. Can anyone send it to me if it's not too much trouble?

Make sure that you're getting the most recent revision of the Setup Tool. As new models come out, the tool must be repeatedly revised. Each model group has different encryption.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

We have success. I was reading another thread on using the Setup Tool and it sounded kinda complicated but I found it to be pretty straight-forward. But I must mention that I purchased the Setup Tool from copier tech and the included instructions were great. All I did was follow each step. Easy Peasy.

This is new to me and it doesn't take much to get me excited. I have a new toy.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

              Congratulations on your success!

The biggest problem with the setup tool, is trying to use an obsolete version on models that were not yet made when the tool was written. =^..^=

The setup tool has options for other things, but the only thing that works being converted is Address Book, One Touch Keys and Job Accounting.
                Hope that helps !

'Net Viewer' is always my go to program...

I had a look for the setup tool? Doesnt seem to be available on the AU portal?

I quit using 917 and just use KM Netviewer much more reliable and no setup tool required

I've been using the setup tool by remotely pulling the 917 data through kfs and putting it on the new machine so it's all done before going to the customer site.

The only issue with this method is you have to call the customer to hit ok on the machine display.

With using NetViewer / Net Manager is there a way to move settings from one device to another without both machines being at the same location?

Yes. But to me it's a bit of a pain. Much easier to use Net Viewer with both machines at the same location.

I will use the Setup Tool when I have to, but the most reliable and quickest for me is Net Viewer.

Also, if the customer is using Job Accounting, Net Viewer is the best way I found moving that data from one machine to another.

Does Net Viewer also copy over the current totals for each Job Accounting user? I know 917 will copy over the user and code info but not the current totals for each user.
