From a recipe page here: https://recipesfromacornishkitchen.b...can-i-say.html

It's the type of thing that you can 'customise' according to your own taste.

Used to get it 'home made' regularly from a proper local butcher in S.E. Cornwall... 😋
Talking of this, and keeping it Cornish.. I have a love of GOOD Scotch (Celtic connection) eggs, Groat and Tribute ale, therefore this sounds very good:

We’re egg-cited with the glorious, spring days! Here’s one way of eating eggs at Easter - a crisp, Cornish hog’s pudding with Tribute ale mustard.

I just wont involve the mustard and will adjust the sausage meat/hogs pudding ratio far more in favour of the hogs.. and the 15ml of Tribute will changed to something more like 15 flagons of Tribute on the side... 😁

Nope, I just like to experiment when I'm cooking. And I like good food.

It a fillet roast wrapped in a bed of chopped chestnut mushrooms and parma ham then encased in a filo pastery dough, baked to perfection with a port wine and mushroom gravey.

I love my hogs pudding, I use it many ways, one of my favourite is with an arrabiata sauce and pasta...that is something I need to learn how to make, I've got the recipe...just need the inclination. Used to get mine from the butchers in Pannier Market, Truro, but they've shut down
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

If I ever get the time to try making some of the things shared in here, I'm sure to pack on a few pounds... Not helpful when I'm try to shed those pounds! Maybe I shouldn't be following this thread!

So, who has eaten frog legs? They're delicious. I've actually went out in the swamp in a boat and caught the biggest frogs you've ever seen. You can't put a boat motor where we went. Too thick. You have to use a paddle and a pole to get around. Put a car battery in the boat and a Q-beam light. You shine the light in the frogs eyes and then grab 'em with you hand. Sometimes you have to get out of the boat to get close enough to grab 'em. I've had snakes swim between my legs. And if you ever seen red eyes, it's a gator. The swamp is a very scary place but you gotta do what you gotta do.

You can't be wrong following old cook/dog/tech tricks 😜
One simple thing I do is to tip my hat and learn!
A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

So you were actually catching them by hand instead of gigging. My dad used to go frog gigging in the marsh land along the Tule River just southeast of what is now Lemore Naval Air Station.

Grabbing them by hand is the way i was taught. I know most use a gig. I think catching 'em was more fun than eating them. Did you ever go with your dad and did you eat them?
