I do remember my childhood number, RE3-8183, some of my friends numbers started with UL7. We dialed seven numbers then, we dial ten numbers now even if it's a local call.

But yeah, I can't remember any passwords.

I still remember turning the crank and asking Sarah the operator for the number I wanted.

                    I really am getting old.

WE5-1928. was our number growing up after we got dial service. Interesting tidbit, 1928 was the year my boss's wife from when I first started in office equipment repair was born. As for password, I use a hint spread sheet.

Never had to use a crank until I was drafted into the Army and had to work with field phones and field switchboards. The first phone my family had was one where you picked up the receiver and it dropped a cat's eye on the local switchboard. Being a small town where everyone know each other you just had to tell the operator who you wanted to call.

I remember my dad using a crank phone when he took me on fire calls.
He bitched not having a radio like some other trucks.
He also didn't like climbing poles to connect the wires.
