Just because I don't know why something happens doesn't mean I don't notice it happening. I don't know why my GPS sometimes stops giving me directions (cloudy sky? tall buildings next to me? software bug?) but I surely notice it's not working.

Fixthecopier, It seems you have quoted me out of context this time. Mine was a reply to mrwho's ''May be we should continue to enslave them...'' mentality. And I say, It is already too late for you to do that. For the 'slave's descendants' are already playing positive leadership roles in American society, not only in politics but also in other areas like sports, music, science & technology etc. Any action towards going back to slavery could precipitate a return to the civil war, I would imagine! And that is the last thing in the mind of Americans I suppose.
- As for the millions of illegal aliens in your country, I beleive each country has its own laws to control the influx of illegal immigrants. If the current laws in your country has failed to stamp out these waves of illegal immigrants, may its time to review these laws. But enslaving these immigrants & invading and taking over Mexico with the ill motive of enslaving them should definitely NOT be one of the options on the table. That would be rewinding back human civilization. The consequences would be unthinkable.
- As for those numerous quotations, you didn't give us the reference source. I don't from which book you got them.

Dag first of all I am not trying to take you out of context.
Second the quotes were from Deuteronomy, I forget most Christians have not read the crazy parts of the bible.
Atheist do not have a bible or church, just seems silly. I do not need someone every week to tell me how to not believe even harder.
The commonly used bible today was put together by King James in 1604. Before that all bibles were hand transcribed by hand and all were different. Some had books you have never heard of, and some were missing books you read in today's bible. Funny how god waited well over 1000 years to settle on what his true word was. You think that would have been important enough to clarify early on, it being the word of god and everything. One of the great things about being atheist is always wanting to know more, and not being satisfied with "Because God made it that way". For example if you do the research you can find examples of almost every single Biblical tale, having been used in other religions long before the Christian religion. It is widley known that Dec, 25 as Christ birthday was just marketing. That day was already used by pagans and others for centuries, so the church just grabbed on to a day that was already being celebrated.

I think that is obvious to just about every living thing on the planet. But I was not talking about the obvious, I was refering to extremely subtile things. Breaking a clay jar because a dead animal touched it for fear of getting sick isn't obvious, but then they were allowed to wash clothing. They "figured" out you can wash clothes but have to break a jar. How the F@#$ is that obvious? Well that is not true for many reasons.
1st Isaiah 60:6 mentions the wise men, and this was a few thousand years before Mithraism.
2nd Isaiah mentions Jesus, "He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities"
3rd Isaiah predated Mithriasm by several thousand years. Even the dead sea scrools, which contain Isaiah, predate Mithriasm.
Mithriasm adopted the wise men story not the other way around. Mithriasm was less than 1% of the population, and wasn't even known about until the 2nd century AD. You are correct that this was about the tiime Christians adopted Dec 25 as christmas because nobody remembered the day. Even if they didn't know the exact day he was born, and picked that day it doesn't change easter. Buddah, Muhammed, Confucius, and Mithra are all dead and in their graves. What about Jesus empty tomb? Thanks for your article fixthecopier. First allow me correct to correct you: It is not true when you say that the commonly used Bible today was put together by king James in 1604. It is also not true when you say that all Bibles before that were hand transcribed. Your first statement is a common MISCONCEPTION held by many people. This is the facts: The first Bible of the medieval church was known as the ''VULGATE'', it was a Latin translation from the Hebrew text done by Jerome in the year 405. It remains the Bible of the Roman Catholic Church. It was also the FIRST BOOK in the World to be PRINTED in 1455.
- The English language Translation of this Vulgate is known as the Rheims & DOUAY Bible. The inspiration for the AUTHORIZED version came under God, out of a conference between Anglicans & Presbyterians in 1604- the Hampton Court Conference. King James 1 being , like many Scots, something of a theologian, accepted a proposal by Dr. Reynolds of Oxford that anew Version should be prepared, and 54 scholars were appointed to do the work. Only 47 of them actually worked on the translation and they worked in groups. In 1611 they produced the miracle of the AUTHORIZED Version...(the king James Bible), which not only shaped the thinking of Britain but molded the English language.
- So it is not true when you say that God waited for 1000years to settle on which words of His is a true one. Remember with the passage of time older and better Greek texts have been discovered, and knowledge of the New Testament Greek has greatly increased.
Note: 1- VERSIONS are simply translations of the oldest manuscripts into any language of people who want to read them.
2- The TEXT is the original writing. And Translation is the Version.
- Secondly the 75% of Christians versus the 1% Atheists in world's largest prison you talk of is because of Numerical Superiority. Statistically, Christians are 1/6th of the world population, compared to the insignificant percentage of Atheists, so if a group of wrong doers are arrested there's probability that 1/6th is likely to be a CHRISTIAN.
