    Re: Waiting Out The Storm.....

Got up to almost twenty degrees (F) here her today, but the wind was blowing the snow across the road enough that I couldn't see where the lanes were more than three or four car lengths ahead when I was an east/west road.
Tomorrow's high temp is supposed to be -1, so I finally got out to shovel the driveway and sidewalks (only three inches of snow, and the wind had already cleared a good portion of that, big whoop). At least it is supposed to be sunny tomorrow with not a lot of wind. I've got the snowmobile suit and Herman Munster boots on standby, the colder it gets I just need extra layers and I'll be fine.

Sorry KapeKopyTec, it was a statement of fact though. When I see some of us posting early am and the weather is the cause I know why. I'm lucky here in Bugaha, no snow but the high in the AM will be -5 with a -40 wind chill. I know our northern Bro's will laugh, but it was +50 last Sunday and forecast to be +50 next Sunday. Ride'n the roller coaster.

This was taken on Jan 20th here is San Diego; you can see a surfer through the window.

SORRY, I feel spoiled by our weather.

We wouldn't have noticed the surfer if you hadn't mentioned it. It's not quite that warm here in Bakersfield. Highs only in the sixties. Might make it to 70 this weekend.

I'm here in coastal Alaska with +51F yesterday. Other places in the state have recently seen -50F., I'll take +50 any day!

It's been a cold winter so far for us here in Miss'ippi. I liked how they said on the weather the other day " If you're under 40 you never experienced this before" They actually delayed schools till 10am for some in the northern parts of the state. Not because of ice or snow but because its too "Coowd"

I've actually been enjoying it, I just layer up. Put on the gloves and hat. The wind is what I didn't like. Friday was a heat wave 37F. Today we are 57F(perfect for me) - spring will be here in a couple weeks.

It's supposed to be a "hard freeze" tonight in northern Mississippi with temps around 18*. This means that every gallon of milk, every case of bottled water and every loaf of bread will be off the shelves at stores before 5pm from everyone hunkering down. It's very sad, yet funny to think about... unless you actually need the milk, water or bread.

I am in denial. It was 65 today and they are saying that tomorrow it will start snowing and we could get 10 inches [that's what she said. Yes I am still 12]

There was a lot of pack ice on the roads here today. Pack ice kind of stinks, you have to slow down if you're going around a curve.
I kind of wussed out and used the snowblower to clear the driveway this evening. I could have shoveled it, but I did that twice yesterday and I didn't feel like doing that again.
Currently my outdoor thermometer says it is -6 F, which is way better than the dopes on the news claimed (they tried to say -20 for here). Might go out later and see if the aurora is on display tonight, when it is that is pretty neat to see.

Your outdoor thermometer does not account for wind chill. It could very well feel like -20 when the wind picks up. As for shoveling snow, if we had a company snow blower it would get used all the time. I think this is shaping to be a record breaking year for snowfall here...
