I kind of wussed out and used the snowblower to clear the driveway this evening. I could have shoveled it, but I did that twice yesterday and I didn't feel like doing that again.
Currently my outdoor thermometer says it is -6 F, which is way better than the dopes on the news claimed (they tried to say -20 for here). Might go out later and see if the aurora is on display tonight, when it is that is pretty neat to see.
Have seen the Northern Lights only a few times, at CFB Goose Bay in Canada. We are too far south here to see them, but they were SPECTACULAR to somebody who doesn't get to see them regularly.......

Wind was a factor yesterday, so it very well could of have been -20 below wind chill yesterday. And the wind was worse Sunday, I had to clear a three foot drift from the front of my Mom and Dad's garage then. But the temperature was in the thirties then, and I got to use their tractor that has a blade in the back, a bucket on the front and front wheel assist so that didn't take very long and wasn't too uncomfortable.
I have discovered that if you go on a service call to a shop that requires you to wear guest safety glasses, see if you can hang on to them when you leave. The glasses not only keep various industrial particles out of your eyes, they also keep a lot of the snow out of your eyes if it is really blowing around. And if you do oil changes and other maintenance on the underside of your car, they will keep the road yuck out of your eyes as well.

It amazes me to no end. One side off the globe is Freezing while the opposite side is having a heat wave followed by a cyclone/hurricane.

We are just coming through the back end of a cyclone which crossed the coast at Ayre just above Mackay Area.
Rockhampton and Mackay have taken a bad storm surge which as removed large sections of the beach front and coastal roadways. Keppel Is has lost a number of beach front buildings to the on going storm surge. Rockhampton area is currently experiencing massive rain squalls from ex-tropical cyclone Dylan. We expect flooding in the next few days, if the current rain keeps going.

Best thing to do is ignor it. Pretend it isn't happening. That's what the super intelligent politicians in my state have done. They passed a law that says communities cannot use scientific data that predicts rising sea levels to determine whether or not to allow developers to build on our coastline. Don't worry though, they have it all worked out. Insurance companies don't make their profits go up by insuring million dollar homes that will fall into the ocean. So the federal government steps in and covers them. Ever see the east coast after a hurricane. Tax dollars are used to rebuild those vacation homes.

Now I am not saying climate change is real, after all I saw a clip of the "Fox and idiots" show, and they had the planets leading authority on climate, Donald Trump, and he pointed out that it was cold in New York in the middle of January, therefor climate change is a hoax.

Looks like we Indiana people are going to need the snow goggles again today and tomorrow. They are predicting another foot of snow in my area. This sucks. Winter can kiss my ass.

My state, on the east coast, was 7 inches above normal in rainfall for the year 2013. Meanwhile the west coast is 10 years into a drought. Last Monday it was almost 70 degrees. 2 days later there was 5 inches of snow on the ground. Yesterday it was 70 again. Today it is 41 and rainy.

Part of the drought problem here in California is that won't pump Norther California water into the California Aquaduct system from the delta because of a minnow like fish called the Delta Smelt and they have to release the water currently in storage dams in the cental California down the rivers for the Salmon run. Fish before people and crops.

I live on the Central Coast of Queensland, Australia. We've just been blessed with a load of rain from Tropical Cyclone Dylan, soon to be greeted by TC Edna, and apparently Fletcher too.

After reading about some of the crazy weather patterns some of you are experiencing, I can say at least here it's consistent. You can always count on knowing it's -40 for a month straight here with random dumpings of snow scattered throughout the weeks, no chance in hell is it going to jump to +5 overnight and start raining to freeze over.

Not everyone affected by these edicts is a billionaire. My family has lived on this spit of land for generations. My wife and I own a house at least 2 miles (as the crow flies) from the waterfront. Thousands of homeowners not in the least wealthy, are facing astronomical increases due to these new gov't standards. Most are not affected (short of an epic tsunami) by the type of coastal destruction these regulations are forecasting. Don't paint the gov't as the hero on a white horse here, because they are often in bed with the insurance companies. Most insurance policies have riders that exclude or reduce payouts from damage from "named" storms. Who names the storms? Have you noticed now that every bad rainstorm is a "named" storm? To get back to the wealthy property owners, trust me when I tell you taht in addition to hefty property taxes, they also pay some pretty heavy insurance based on existing regulations, which also seem to go up every year based on NOAAs hurricane prediction for the coming year. How accurate have those predictions been of late? Not very, but the insurance goes up every year regardless. And need I point out the blatant lies about the Affordable (bwahahahahaha) Care Act?

Is there climate change? Yes, and there always has been, due to a variety of naturally occuring circumstances. Is there MAN MADE climate change? Maybe, but it would be move believable if it's proponents lived their lives like they actually believed it themselves - hello AlGore - and didn't have to resort to falsifying data to further their very lucrative agenda (East Anglia emails).

If Babs Streisand and Arrick Baldrim can have opinions on politics, why can't Trump have an opinion on climate change?

Fox may be a bunch of idiots, but the alphabet networks are downright liars (Dan Rather/CBS on the faked Bush Air Nat'l Guard papers, NBC heavily editing the Trayvon Martin 911 calls, etc.).

More snow today, work delayed, driveway cleared (again).
