    Copier eating copies.

customer said it was eating copies and must have been really hungry i asked them to demonstrate(great way to weed out customer error) He pressed scan to box(store on hdd) and fed about 20 sheet thru the doc feeder. I pushed the copy button and fed the same document thru and came out fine.

I once had a customer tell me their machine was walking down the hall and turning itself off. (This was long before auto shut off was a common feature) The machine was an old Savin 5040 liquid machine. They were known to have a problem with the scanner slamming home every copy. The machine had good wheels and was on a hard smooth floor. The machine was actually moving about an inch every time that scanner slammed home. When it reached the end of its power cord, it would pull it from the wall enough to disconnect power.

When I started out in service in the late 70's I used to repair juke boxes and slot machines in pubs.
I had a call at 9.00pm one night to a See-burg juke box - this was about 12ft long x 2.5ft wide - beast of a box. The landlord said the machine was meowing and howling noises coming from it.
Turned out the cash collectors had been that morning and the landlords cat had crawled inside for a sleep in the speaker cabinet. Got a very rude awakening later when the hard rock started.
Landlord gave me free drinks for a week as I had to break in to release it.

One of the "bosses" asked me:" Why do u write service st.?".
Me: "coz u maked 18k copies and it's time to change a drum"
boss: "The machine is in warranty period and i wont pay for something what is covered by warranty"
Me: "drum isn't in waranty, it's dispensable item"
boss: "i know that but we buyed new machine because warranty"
Me : " yes but there is no war. on drum only on electronic, boards etc."
boss: " i have a dam war. declaration from ur company and i wont accept charge!"

                I got a few...

                Sharp AR-M205...
Customer complaint: It will not come on?
I drive 2 hrs, 130 miles (one way) and find out the "user" was flipping the on/off switch, waiting a WHOLE 2 SECONDS (if that) then switching it back OFF!! Told her to give it at least 5 sec to boot up...

                Sharp AR168...
Customer complaint: Last images copied were on all copies now!
I drive 60 miles, first thing... I hit the scan button without doing anything...... copy showed images so I raised the doc feeder and there was a laminated sheet statically STUCK to the pad on the bottom of the doc feeder... LOL

Come to find out, they were running copies of some walmart receipts and noticed "around" the receipts was what they scanned before they started scanning receipts and couldn't figure out why..... DUH!

                Fax call...
Customer says it won't send or receive?
Drove 90 miles to "plug" the phone line back in.. someone knocked it loose.. I'm sure everyone here has had this one...

Oh.. here's my latest... last Thursday..

                Sharp AR-M455...
Customer complaint: Says add paper in try two but it's full!
I arrived and they had the paper loaded on the WRONG side of the cassette (on the right instead of the left).. LOL

I just had one yesterday that made me crack up. Konica Minolta 250 w/ FS-508 Finisher. Called in for not working. I get there, its powered off... I ask what happened, they say its possessed (sp?) the finisher jumped off and dented their wall ?

                      Are you freakin kidding me?

He probably got too involved in HALO or something right after that. I've walked in on them playing games numerous times.

                          Must be nice.

I like the "noise" calls. I will amuse myself by asking the customer to try and make the sound the machine is making over the phone. It's hilarious, customers are a riot.

                                Hello,
I didn't talk to this customer when they called in but I was told: "They said they tried to run notebook paper through the tray because they wanted lines on their paper and something 'went wrong', so then they tried to run the notebook paper through the ADF and print on regular paper. and now the machine is down"
Indeed something did go wrong, the transfer belt unit ate an entire sheet of 3 hole punch notebook paper and the fuser ate a good portion of another. Ah, the irony... the one time a customer --wants-- lines on their copies and they still manage to have something "go wrong."

                                People kill me.

P.S. They were also duplexing the notebook paper! I found the evidence in the trash can sitting, where else but, directly beneath output-tray two on their hanging finisher... yes people still kill me.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.
