I wouldnt go cutting any springs in half.
Cutting the spring will only make it worse.

The side door alignment can also cause this issue. try pushing it in some on the first cycle ,see if it makes a difference. Is the door crashing into the guide blocks on the front frame?

That makes more sense than anything ive heard so far. Ive even tore half the machine apart to replace the clutches that the service manual reccomends which did nothing! Ive also played around with that solenoid in the reverse unit (its not an exit unit) and that did nothing. Thaanks for the tip!

I see 2 springs for the gate. Did you cut the big one next to the solenoid?
            Can you share picture?

A picture of what? Cutting those springs is a real bad idea.

the gate in the exit unit, sorry i shoud have precised...
Anyway im agree with neil greenhough
This is the same fix that I have used a number of times. I use a piece of mylar and cut 3 thin strips and place it in the spot shown. It usually does the trick. If you get a 32-05 remove (or replace ) little pads that the gate hits. They become sticky

Had this today on a 224 we took over the service on and in this case the Transfer belt was missing the black latch you screw in to hold the door tight which was causing the door to not be closed flush.

I've cut the springs many times and works great! Also have used 2 or 3 of the labels off that strip of control panel labels that come with the older machines. Stick 2-3 labels together then stick them on gate solnoid frame. Why you are at it remove the small black pads that the gate touches. The gate can stick to the pads.

I would try just the labels first. If still getting 32-01 jams would remove the labels and cut spring.

I had this in my files and shows where to put labels:
