Are you using the firmware port under the little access door at the rear? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Like wox said. delete everything off the usb flash drive. then "select all" individual files and move or copy "just" the files to the usb flash drive. After turning machine on sometimes it can take 5+ mins for the F/W screen to appear.

By "wipe the drive" it's actually recommended to format it - twice. Once with NTFS to remove the formatting entirely, and then again with FAT32 to put it back.

The FWSelect folder allows you to have multiple f/w on one USB. Just put everything in the firmware folder on the root of the USB, no top level folder. If the MFP does not see the drive as containing firmware info it will just boot to the normal copy screen. If it can detect that firmware is on the drive it will either boot to the install f/w screen or display an incorrect f/w message. I have had to use a HP format tool to get some of my USB drives able to work with firmware again. Takes about 1/2 hour to fully format. After re reading your post, double check that the MFP recognizes the USB cover has been lifted. (service mode I/O check). If the sensor has been dislodged, or is not working, the MFP reads this USB port as any of the other ports, and if you have USB ports disabled it will not allow the device to be used. Emujo

ok the firmaware loaded after i just put it all on the root drive, but not the movie data, i had the movie data in a folder in on the root drive, can the movie data be done separately?
by it self on the usb?
or should i open it out of the folder and put it on the root drive instead of it in its folder?
                  thanks for the advice

Movie data goes on the root, but you can have many movie files as the MFP will look for the correct file. The update is done through service mode/system2/data install, and can be done vis any USB port. I usually just use the port on the control panel. Emujo

Just in case you are unaware do NOT extract the .tar file. The copier will do that internally.
