    Re: C250i does not boot...

I'm currently have a case with a machine that does a boot loop - latest recovery tool didn't do the trick and the SSD seems bad according to the diagnostic. While my tech was on site I tried to format another 256gb nvme I found here in my workshop
with an USB adapter and did a test run on a C450i - unfortunately it doesn't come up with it at all but if I check the drive on the computer I can see there's many partitions on it.

What tool are you guys using to format the drive with an USB adapter?

I was also thinking about using a 3rd party nvme since KM ask a lot of €€ for a new storage board - anyone tried that?

testdiskwin is what I use. I haven't tried aftermarket drives, so cant give any info on that.

        Re: C250i does not boot...

I ran into the 25% boot issue (c300i) last week, tried all the suggestions in the solutions, recovery tool, the whole nine yards, all failed. Called the KM hotline and they have a "back door" to get into non-responsive machines from the firmware update screen. The only thing that recovered my machine was wiping the HDD partition and then re-installing the PDF/A font data. They also cautioned me NOT to use the latest firmware (J9) for recovery, use G4 instead

Odd parts was the recovery tool checked the HDD and it came back OK every time but would always fail update of MFP Controller with NG

Not impressed with these "i series" thus far.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

What was the back door code used to access the machine through the firmware screen I am having the same issue.

            Re: C250i does not boot...

            My heart hurts.
We have resolved 7 cases at the request of the customer.
All of them were bad storageboards.
I know there are two storageboards.
            old or new
Here are some things to watch out for.
I found out that if I do the latest firmware on my old storageboard, the storageboard is dead.
            Older firmware for older storageboards.
The old storageboard has been discontinued and has been replaced with a new storageboard.
Please use the latest firmware for the new storageboard.
When doing the firmware, first set the language and type and then execute the boot firmware.
After the boot firmware is finished, turn off the power, run the firmware again, and then do the printer and other device firmware.
            I wish you good results.

there is diagnosis and recovery tool in special firmware on one stop. i have used it once and got a screen saying storage board bad and needed replaced. replaced storage board, all good. have one now where it wont run. most common problem is storage board, combination ram and ssd on a stick looks like ram, screwed on with tiny screw. try reseating it.

Fortunately we haven't had any bad storage board during the last month but I'm still looking for a solution to "revice" boards, that has been marked as "bad" by the MFP while not making any issues after formating and testing them in a computer. These are just somewhat "prepared" so we can't use generic nVME as replacement.

i have used generic raw(unformatted or partitioned) 256 nvme ssd's. if any i series unit is running any pre 2.0 firmware the ssd will become corrupted, and tagged as bad by the mfp, i have reused some of these but refailure rate was unacceptable. (around half failed again). seems the longer early fw ran on a given unit the more damaged the ssd's became.

So generic SSD can be used? Also are these SATA or PCIe.

                      Thanks

Hi everyone this Raj from India. I have a C250i stuck on 25%. the technician tried to update new firmware but that also stuck at 25%. what can be done?

ssd and cpu both cleaned reseated by the technician but still it did not work.

he also tried his ssd used as a spare on my machine still it did not cross 25%.

no he says to replace the CPU which estimated around Rs. 65,000. well i asked him whether he can take my cpu install on his machine or bring his cpu put that in machine just to make sure that my cpu is causing the error. Unfortunately never heard back from him, its been 3 weeks he doesn't even pick my call.

Can any one give a heads up in this situation.

                        Thanksin advance.

There is a "firmware" with a diagnostic tool that can tell you exactly what's broken.
Usually the SSD is broken or the file system on it is "read-only"

                            I will second this.
