    Bizhub C458 LCT PC415 tray

The cable for the lift tray (PC410/PC415) has been pinched and now the tray isn't lifting properly. Has anyone replaced the cables on the these trays? It doesn't look like it can be done easily and it seems to happen frequently with these trays

I just posted about why the rear cable jumps off pulley. Search the posts in last few weeks. There is a small round part called the damper, this allows the tray in drawer to lower slowly. If this is bad the tray will drop hard (especially with full paper) and cable comes off rear pulley. It's like a $5 part

It is a damper , the parts manual calls it a dumper

Thanks for the input and the part number.. I hadn't given it much thought about the tray dropping so fast. But now it makes sense

The ridges on the edge of the lift cable drum are not very tall. It's common for the cable to slip over the side of the drum, and wrap onto the shaft. Some of us have cut heavy mylar disks with a hole for the shaft, cut a slot to slide it over the shaft without disassembly, then apply two sided tape to the disk on the side that will stick to the drum. Did I explain that clearly? You're creating a raised ridge on both sides of the drum, so the cable doesn't slip off the edge.

            It works. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
