I've read on this forum about leaving the cleaning rollers out of the C554-C754 fuser unit and still works well. Does this also apply to the 8 series fusers? There are no aftermarket cleaning rollers for the 8 series and they are expensive! Looks like the 8 series has a new style cleaning roller setup which I guess is to prevent the squeaking noise that was very common in the 4 series.

the ones with the white square "button" are evil.
that whole mechanism is rude.
i scrape off any hard crap from the roller and lightly wipe fuser oil on it.
then run paper through it by hand until no oil stains and warranty/order another fuser. this one has a 10% chance of making it through a case of paper.
thats all i could do. i tried removing the roller once and it just codes.

YMMV but i never had any luck because the shaft on the oil roller has gears for that stupid contraption.

I remove them from 8 series when they start making noise. Never had a problem and the fuser goes well past expected life settingsComment

Glad you guys had luck. After the 3rd one I ruined i just lubed and replaced. From then on.We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

When removing cleaning roller I also remove brackets that oil roller rides in and the springs that hook to the bracketsComment
