    PC-416

I picked up a customer with a Bizhub 360i that has a PC-416 feed unit on it. The problem is that when the right side of the cassette runs out of paper, the left side of the cassette does not move over to replenish the feed unit. Eventually, it gives a jam code of 16-05, but no paper is present. The unit feeds fine until the last page prints. This call is roughly 40 plus miles and I would like to be prepared when returning if a particular part is needed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

check the rear lever bar between stacks for spring return and the sensors. if it does not see any paper on the left it will not shift either.
    try a trouble reset?

We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

You may find when you get there is it just poorly loaded paper, or I have also see a client store paper in that left side still in the wrapper!

Those symptoms along with that jam code sounds like the paper end sensor is not detecting when the paper on the right has run out. The most common cause is if the actuator arm gets stuck in the up position. Since it still thinks there is paper there, it will never shift the left over to the right, and will continue to attempt to feed the non-existent paper which results in the jam code you are seeing. Check the feed unit for a stuck actuator, if that is OK, go into sensor check for the tray and make sure it is changing state, or try replacing the sensor.

Its hard to explain with out being there but item 6 is a spring that goes under item 5 that will pop out of place and cause this issue. Flags 2 & 3 will get out of place an cause the shift plate to over drive which in turn causes the spring item 6 to pop out.
All of these are located in the base on the right side of tray under where the paper sits .

This video shows the operation of the PC-416 tray, is disassembled and a principle of operation is visible. Maybe this will help you in some way.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll probably head down there after the holiday since they are in no rush.
