[Jamming] Finisher FS-539/ FS-539 SD/ Punch Kit PK-524 Jamming at folding output tray

Just wanted to know if there is a fix for continuous jamming at the folding output tray.

I normally run booklets with the configuration seen below.
WhatsApp Image 2025-03-14 at 09.26.21_96514a66.jpg WhatsApp Image 2025-03-14 at 09.26.20_2d4ff37f.jpg WhatsApp Image 2025-03-14 at 09.26.20_5c73b7fb.jpg

The paper runs normally from the KM C360i to the finisher but, upon exiting the folding output tray it misaligns and folds wrongly. See below

I'll link a video here that I captured on my phone.

    Technical advice is welcome.

    What jam codes?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

You may have more than one problem going on here, or something completely different. We've had a few FS539SD finishers what would fold in the wrong location like you are seeing, but they were never folded crooked like your examples, so what I am about to say may not apply to your situation.

For us, we found that the aligning plate (circled in red below) would end up in the wrong location and a half fold would be way off. What we found is that the alignment plate was not moving up and down on the shafts smoothly and would bind. This resulted in it stopping in the wrong location which then resulted in the fold also being in the wrong location. Lubricating the shafts (in yellow below) is what fixed the issue in our situation.

Because yours is folded crooked as well, that may not work for you. I'd take a look at that alignment plate and see if perhaps something with it is broken or out of place.

Based on his video, it doesn't appear to be jamming, just folding crooked.

Something I've seen a couple of times, the "grippers" circled in red mount onto the two blue circles, one side may be popped out of the holder. This causes the "grippers" to only grab and hold one side of the paper which can cause the skew in the fold and the mis-centering of the fold.

I'll look into this. Not sure if our local printer vendors even sell these

              Many thanks for the insight

Now that I've witnessed the paper error for another time and have taken some photo evidence, I'll clue you in on the error code and others.

The error code shown was: 72-26.

I have not read the manual nor do I have access to it right now. I tried asking our administrator if the manual was stowed away somewhere but, they also did not have a single clue as to where it may be.

I only observed the output tray and took some photos of it. Following the on-screen instructions to remove the paper and giving guesses as to what may be wrong with it based on the information replied by some users in this post.

Apart form that pleas see below for the pictures taken.

The booklet came out malformed and had a small punctured area, formed by what I assume to be one of the gears or paddle assys.

Please also see the below document for the error code screen and on-screen instructions.

                      Sorry, I don't follow.

Should I not use the stapling function? Or are the staples I'm using the wrong size?

This booklet was about 8 A3 sheets of standard plain paper. That's the booklet with the least amount of sheets used.

Tested it with plain paper 1 - 3 sheets in size and nothing went wrong, even with 5 sheets of A3 paper.

                          Yes.

Currently using Datamax premium copy paper (80 gsm).

The setting on the Konica bizhub C360i states between (60 - 90 gsm) so, the paper i'm using is between the selected sheet weight.

Struggling to understand this problem over several days (and seeing others also struggle to define what exactly is the problem here), I try to strip the problem down to its essentials. In that regard, one element of my confusion is the reference to the punch kit (PK-524), because I don't see how that is related to anything. (Near as I can tell, it's not even used here.) At the risk of being simple-minded: What is its connection?
