C253 - Web Connection Issue / Firmware Update?

    Hello,

today I wanted to set up "scan to email" instead of "scan to Box". It wont send email,
but at this time its my smallest problem. I cant connect to the web service any longer,
it enforces HTTPS, but there seems to be no valid certificate on the machine.

Is there any way to totally reset the machine?
Would a firmware update cure it?

    Thanks
    Mihe

I don't think that old model will scan to email because of security issues, etc. Years ago many of my customers with the C253 upgraded to the 4 series, mostly because of scan issues. Maybe some others here have work arounds.

If that machine is working good except scanning I would not initalize or format hdd. You could end up with a machine that don't work at all!

Firmware won't help because last F/W offered was 2012.

agreed, the 3 series is unable to adhere to the current security protocols thus unable to use that feature anymore commercially.
easy to just scan to usb stick and use from pc
      or upgrade?
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
      The medication helps though...

The only way to get a machine of that vintage to scan to email that I'm aware of, would be to set up an SMTP relay on a computer within its network and send through the relay.

As for seeing the Copier's Web Connection, I keep my old Windows 7 laptop around for such tasks, and use Internet Explorer.

An Alternative option is to install Mozilla Firefox and change the below settings.

              (1) In a new tab in Firefox, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

              (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste TLS and pause while the list is filtered

              dataurl377385.jpg

              (3) If the security.tls.version.max preference is bolded and "user set" to a value other than 3, right-click > Reset the preference to set the default value of 3

              (4) If the security.tls.version.min preference is bolded and "user set" to a value other than 1, right-click > Reset the preference to set the default value of 1

                Hello,

thanks for all your replies. I could work it out now, and did a total reset of the machine. I can finally log into it.

                Thanks
