    Dv512 black developer

    Guys, quick question. Can i replace the color developer with a black developer (and changing chip oc)? I heard that it can be done but i am not really sure. Need an opinion.

    This has been discussed on this forum many times.

    Here is my simple version.....

    You can change a less expensive black dev unit into color. Swap over necessary parts/chip from color to black unit. Run 60 halftones in service mode of color you want, around 40 pages you will see black changing to the color. Around 60 pages and black has become color! Keep in mind all developer is black in color, it just "carries" the color toners.

      Yes you can replace a colour dev unit with colour by swapping the chip.

      Or an easier option, as I do, If you have a depleted colour developer unit then you can simply 'top up' the colour with black.

            The chips are the same across C,M,Y,K developer units.

              If you just need the developer material, you can order bagged Developer off of Aliexpress. I have DV512 K,C,M,Y when I need it.
