458e. Power on and device comes to ready to print. Fuser (non IH) is cold to the touch, service mode shows 190 c and fluctuating. Constant fuser jams..What in the world could be telling giving the false temp reading. We have replaced fuser, fuser control, main board with no change. Any ideas? E

Re: 458E fuser issue
Well I can't find the specific pins, but the thermistors go to the MFP board, and the lamps go ... well somewhere else. And the somewhere else must be the DC power supply. That would be my next stop. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: 458E fuser issue
This is hardly to believe. How it can be? I recently saw your post about brand new fusers for C450i have taken power supply and fusing drive but that sounds like you are in bad bad series...
Like BC said PS may not fire up lamps but it must code and not reading 190 degrees.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.

You can rule out bad thermistor, and anything else with the fuser since you replaced.
I would of guessed the main board but since you also replaced that only other thing I can think of is the pwr supply as Black cat posted.
Since it's such a strange issue have you tried initializing the machine? Perhaps Firmware update.Last edited by copyman; 12-21-2022, 08:30 PM.Comment

I didn't say I don't believe you it's just hard to believe such an issue. Of course I believe your words as I never have even doubts in them. I only can wish you good luck as in this case you will need it.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. Re: 458E fuser issue
You could pin out the wiring harnass for the thermistor wiring ... that could account for false temperature readings theoretically. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

wouldn't hurt to try the log acquisition tool to see if any codes are being registered in background. see attachedComment
