    [Misc] Bizhub C958 toner blocks wastetoner coil unit

    Hi all

    I have a Bizhub 958 in a costumers site which keeps clumping toner in the transfer belt cleaning unit and thus blocking the coil in the waste toner collection unit. resulting in C-2204


    Toner lumps are rock hard when found in transfer cleaning unit and waste toner collection unit.


    It has happened 5-6 times in 1-2 years on the same machine at the customer. They have a similar machine next to it that has never had this problem. they use the same stored toner and paper.

    The machine has done about 2000k prints and the one next to that never had the problem has done almost 4000k prints.


    Transfer belt unit and the collection unit have been replaced several times in the past.


    Now I clean it up and then it runs again for a while, but it will almost certainly happen again within a few months.


    I've checked in Knova and googled like crazy but haven't really found anything useful.

      I've not had it repeat, but I have had to clean out the transfer cleaners on a couple of machines.

      Could it be a warm to hot environment or malfunctioning cooling fan (high internal temperatures)? Is it genuine toner? Does the waste bottle's internal auger turn properly? =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Thank you for your reply.

          Climate is good, dry, office invironment with around 20 degress Celcius. Toners are not stored any different, good flow on toners. wastetonerbox is obviously frequently changed.

          I thought of internal temperature and will check this out over a few days.

              there is a chute from the belt to the WTB, thats what i find clogged all the time causing a belt backup.
              i dont think you mentioned if you cleaned the chute or made sure the chute door opens all the way when the box is pushed in?
              We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
              The medication helps though...

                  The attached photos show the chute disassembled and cleaned.

                  I am aware that the waste bottle has probably been changed many times, but does the motor in the front frame turn the auger? =^..^=

                                  We only have one of the 958s out in the field, though we have multiple 808s. With both of these models we have had issues with toner cartridges that were filled with toner "rocks". Not sure how this would make it's way into the T-Belt cleaning unit, so it's probably not your issue. So far clumps in the actual toner bottles is all we've come across with these.

                                      If you catch it early, sometimes it's resolvable by the enduser.

                                      The first time I came across it I heard a clicking noise near the finisher. The waste bottle had filled to the top at the transfer waste end, did not detect full, and began to back up. Just changing the waste bottle solved the issue.

                                      That location had a pretty good keyop. She told me later that she was able to resolve it herself on two other machines with that same clicking noise. =^..^=
