    6002i usb drive printing options

Is there a way to populate the usb thumb drive printing options??
I thought all or at least most of the copying options were available for printing too.
All the options are not on the screens for printing from the usb thumb drive port. For instance: booklet mode isn't there to choose.
That's only one, but it is one that my customer wants.

How can I add booklet mode to the options for printing, using the usb thumb drive port(removable memory)??
Heck can I add anything to that page?

I think you would have to print it, then copy it to a booklet.
    Hope that helps !

You have a sales opportunity as the feature is available on the 4 Series:

The only option I am aware of (other than an upgrade), is to store the document on the USB as .prn print data. When the document is selected from the USB menu, the features that you have pre-selected in the print diver during storage will be executed on the machine. In this situation the only choice you have at the MFP is to start the job.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That's the 'custom box' section of the user manual though, is it the same in the USB section?

Hi blackcat4866, can you expand on this please as I've not heard or read anything on this before.

This is very handy for two tasks: 1) submitting PreScribe commands, and 2) submitting .prn print-to-file documents.
Essentially the machine treats whatever is in that file as if it has arrived via the network connection. Here's an example:

Write this text to a text application (I use TextPad, but NotePad works just fine too):
              !R! ELOG;EXIT;
Name the file (the name is only for your identification, but it must be file extension .capt), and copy it to a USB stick: errorlog.capt
Insert your USB stick into an MFP > browse to this document > select Print. The PreScribe command is submitted, and the machine will print you an error log. It's very quick and handy.

              For a print-to-file document:
Set up your document in the KX driver. Place a checkmark next to Print-To-File. You can then name your file. It will be a .prn file extension, but you can re-name it to a .capt file extension. Copy it to a USB stick.
Insert your USB stick into an MFP > browse to this document > select Print. The print-to-file is submitted, and the machine will print the print job exactly as you have set it up. You may not make any option choices at the MFP. It prints only exactly the way you set it up in the driver. This is also a way to get around printing documents from other applications, say Microsoft Word. The MFP can't print a .docx file extension, but if you create a print-to-file with a .capt file extension then you can print directly from the MFP.

Did I explain that well enough?

You are correct, the features do not overlap as they used to...AND...the feature IS available on the 2-Series so no new sale😏

Custom Box stores the file differently from the image files available in USB Box so you are unlikely to see this ability from a USB file outside of a Fiery.
Once upon a time there was only one BOX interface and I forget they broke them apart.

Point being that whomever places the files on the thumb drive either needs to:

                1) Print and Copy as suggested - You get extra clicks😁

                2) Do as BlackCat suggests, which is to pre-format the print file with Booklet

                3) Omit the thumb drive and Print it to a Custom Box instead.

You do not describe the reason for the 'sneaker-net' approach so it is hard to say which is acceptable to the customer.

I like that terminology. I'm adding it into my vocabulary.

This is what my customer ended up doing with a thumb drive. They already did it this way on their older machine, 520i , but was wondering if their new rebuilt machine, 6002i, had these choices in the usb drive printing menu. The 6002i is the upgrade. For now.
                      Thanks for the feedback!
