    Address Book Copy

Hi, so recently I have noticed that when exporting address book with U917 and then importing is giving me an error message.

I do not have access to KFS so that is not an option.

But Kyocera I see introduced some setup tool that has a 47-page instruction sheet. I could not figure it out. Usually, I am pretty good with this stuff, but I just don't get it.

Can someone advise how to export and import address books now.

I am doing M3550 to M3655 or the newer MA4000

    Thanks

Import the address book to a thumb drive with 917. Plug thumb drive into pc, open setup tool, click file, click convert, basic, locate 917 import from directory, and follow the prompts. I usually select overwrite old files.

You can also pull it as a CSV from the device using Kyocera Netviewer, however, it doesn't give you the credentials on folders(for security purposes it's encrypted), but it works great for email/fax.

You have to select the Address book & One touch key, even if there are not any one touch keys set up. Those and job accounting codes are the only items that will convert.
        Hope that helps !

Why aren’t you using Kyocera Net Viewer? This allows you to export all settings including address book, one touch, network and all SMTP info from an old device straight into a new one. Saves a heap of time on installs. Unfortunately U917 only exports and imports on same model devices.
if you need a step by step tutorial on KNV let me know.

For anyone wishing to clone settings including address book, one touch and SMTP details from old or mismatched devices to new ones, please see the attached PDF instructions.
This allows you to export/import all critical info including encrypted data (SMTP and address book passwords) either by saving to file or from one machine on the network to another. Its a real time saver at installs. Let me know if you have any questions. Alan

When was the last time you tried this procedure?

I have 2 identical 2554cis that need to be clones of each other.
I created the desitnations on one machine, roughly 80 SMTP destinations, and no matter what I do the tool exports a blank address book every time.

The tool says sucessful, the CSV files it generate are empty.
I have tried this on 2554cix, 3500cix with no luck recently. I have also tried with a brand new UTAX 2509ci with the same issues.
Also tested on multiple workstations/servers to rule out issues with my laptop, including win 10 and win 11, server 18, 19, 22 and 25.
I just used U917 in this case as the machines were identical, but this will be a huge issue in the future.

I have successfully used this tool in the past, but for some reason it does not populate/read address book information anymore.
I am unsure if it is a firmware compatibility issue/tool is outdated.
I even reached out to support and they advised to use 917 only for data transfer.

              Thoughts?

              EDIT:
              Software and FW versions used:

              Iris2020L_4.01

              Iris2020L_3.13

              Iris2020H_3.17

Did you actually select the addresses? From time to time we forget to do that and it pulls blank, or one address. Ctrl-A selects all when in the menu where it shows you addresses before downloading it.

The tool does not pick up any address information from the machine at all. I.E the list that should have 80 odd destinations is empty, therefore you cannot select them to proceed.
We tried a full export using the Set Multiple Devices, then told the tool to target as a file, rather than to another device and all output CSVs from the export were blank.
I honestly spent about a day on this and tried every concieveable combination of options, checkboxes etc and working with my dealer support rep.
We even reset the admin password on one of the machines back to factory SN, tried a basic password, no password, full reset, FW rollback, the works. The tool connects, but does not read any data, even though it says it has successfully connected.

This tool used to work, I have done many machines with it. I even wrote a script that converts Konica Minolta addressbook information into Kyocera readable XML, it was beautiful. Now I have to get a poor tech to copy pasta this info like its the dark ages.

If you have some golden information I may be missing it would be more than welcome.

Try selecting two items, not just the address book. Also, confirm in your communication settings the Admin password is there and correct for the new device.
We use KNV every day both at run up for setting system defaults and in the field for installation. KNV version must be the latest or it won’t discover new devices.
I can’t say I’ve had the exact issue you’ve described as we never just select address book on its own so we are always working with a zip not a CSV.

Can I confirm you are using Kyocera net viewer? My KNV is version 6.8.0605
i have tried all scenarios to try and make the export/import fail using Advanced > Set multiple devices. Worked every time, even with no username or password in the communication settings. Also exporting just the address book on its own created an xml file, not a csv.
Are you running this from the default General view?
maybe PM me with some screen shots of your procedure.

Got a few calls in at the moment. I will get you some screenshots when I next get a chance. I suspect that the version I have is totally out of date, I get mine through UTAX partner site and it is highly likely that they are not hosting the latest version. If you could get the installer of the current version to me that would be awesome, if not, I will poke UTAX for an up to date version
