    Toner curve error ta 5053ci

I'm unable to perform the toner curve adjustment without error, either thru sim, or adj maint.
When done thru sim it errors s003, when done thru adj/maint it says to check the original...
I've made sure to cover test chart with Multiple layers of white paper (ledger) to avoid light...
Test prints you use to lay on glass look ok, I can not see color loss etc. Cleaned mirrors, under glass etc, scan lamp.....
Any help would be appreciated... Firmware up to latest..... Thanks

S003 Original deviation is in excess in the main scanning direction.
Make sure your image is printing in the correct position. You could try printing them thru the MPT.
    Hope that helps !

I have had this a few times and I resolved it by putting test pattern only on
glass and leave the adf open in the maintenance Not sim codes. Try it a few times and
      it usually calibrates.

My experience when this happens has mostly been that the image is not centered on the page. That is why I have made it part of our setup to check and center the image on the page before the machine leaves the shop. I have found even on some new machines out of the box that the image is not quite centered. I cannot believe that more people don't check this. Kyocera makes it soooo easy. This is what I do:

Maintenance Mode U034 Paper timing data adjustment > LSU Out Left > All paper drawers are listed with a value as well as MPT and Duplex > To test a drawer press the System Menu button then select the drawer to test (when I test a drawer I only use Letter paper) > Press the Start button > A page will print out with a pattern. There will be a line down the middle. On each side of that line is a + or a - > Fold the sheet in half > Check the crease in the page against the center line. [Example]If the crease is to the + side of the line then press the System Menu button > Change the value for the drawer that the test print was made [Example] and change it to + value higher to the one currently listed > Press the Start button to lock in the new value > Press the System Menu button and make another test print and check change of the crease in the page to the printed center line. Repeat this until the center line is in the crease of the page when folded in half > Do this to all the drawers

I usually test duplex after setting the first drawer. To test duplex, change the duplex setting from '1 sided to 1 sided' to '1 sided to 2 sided'. The machine will make a two sided print with an A for the first side and a B for the second side. The A side will be fine. Do the fold to check the B side.

I usually write down the original value of a drawer before making a change so I know where I started from.

On the xxx3 and xxx4 series it a little different but hard to figure out.

Making the machine print, then folding the sheet in half ain't so hard.

After centering the image on the page, if you're still having problems doing the toner curve adjustment the machine may have other issues.

          i prefer to run:
          1. check/ adjustment by U034/ Leading edge (old systems) or Start Position (newer system) from standart drawer
          2. check/ adjustment by U034/ LSU Out Left (old systems) or Center Line (newer systems) from standard drawer.
          2. run from U411/ Scanner auto adjustment/ DP Auto Adj.
          3. U415 to run auto adjustments for all drawers + duplex (it`s faster than U034 for all drawers)

Thanks KYO_OEM. I didn't know about U411 and U415. I will incorporate this into my setup.
