    Error code SC542 on MP6500

This error code means temperature fusing problem.
I have already changed the 3 thermostats and the 2 termistors. and the problem keeps reacurring.

    Any suggestions?

I remember someone posting a TSB on updating the thermistors.

But, what exactly are you finding when you go to the machine? Do the components seem to check out but the code keeps throwing? Are you finding a problem?

Also, check all of the connectors on the fuser connector and receptacle, just to make sure that full contact is being made.

Technical Service Bulletin 106 was to address this problem.

I know from experience that the AF2051 (B163) had problems with Fuser Errors. According to Ricoh direct techs after 100K to 200K copies on a new machine the Hot Roller would start to warp (ever so slightly) because of its thin wall construction (fast warmup time). I had 2 situations where I replaced the Thermisors,Themostats and the Thermostat Holders and the problem would keep coming back; after replacig the Hot Roller the problem was resolved (both copiers had between 135K and 165K when the problem developed).

            do this

There is a metal bracket at the back of the fuser that has one screw in it. it is the bracket that goes in between the exit unit and the fuser bend it so it touches the fuser it will keep the fuser from moving in the connecter I have seen this a lot and this will salve your problem of false sc555 and other fuser codes also make sure you don't have a flat spot in the press roller

I always like to keep it simple, and I think mowpro may have nailed it with the possibility that the guy never reset the code in SP modes.

If the code has been reset properly, and all therm's and stat's have been replaced, I would be looking for a short or faulty connection somewhere. I too have seen rear fuser connector problems, and rear fuser wires shorting to the frame when the fuser is pushed in.
Don't take that toner with me!

You know, I always see posts about fuser codes and stuff, yet I assume that the resets are being performed.

Although this may not be the case, I guess it can never be overlooked.

I need to keep reminding myself of that.

i suggested check your power supply line... or its connected to a voltage regulator.... flacuating voltage may cause this codes..... but basically it will reset via on/ off at sp mode....
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

I have also seen these machines where the fuser tray does not latch back into the machine properly after clearing a jam. "kink" the latch to cause it to hold the tray in a little further. Bending the thermistors (very) slightly toward the hot roller also helps. These thermistors are also fairly fragile, so I have seen a new set fail pretty rapidly - especially if the pressure roller is starting to develop flat spots and causing vibration. (a big problem with low volume machines)
Last but not least, the B132 machines had a tech bulletin about the fusing harness deteriorating over time, and causing 54x, 55x, and 56x SC codes - Obviously it's a different design, and different harness, but I have had to replace them before...

Also check your lamp wires for nicks, they can sometimes cause this fault.

Also had fuser SC's caused by tech putting fan in the wrong way round so it blew instead of sucked!

                              I've just remembered something.

A guy on one of our Southern teams came across this, a few Martini-C2's kept coming up with this code, fix was... wait for it.... drum potential sensor. Might be worth swapping the PCU with another machine to see if the fault moves.
