Just use the factory SP mode gives the same access as the standard SE mode.

No sir, it actually does not. Some SP modes are not available in Factory SP that do appear in regular SP or Special SP. Conversely, there are SP modes only available in Factory SP mode. There is not a mode that gives access to all, so far as I'm aware. There are even settings that have to be made via telnet as there is no SP at all.

Which settings are missing in factory SP?

Well, for one, SP5-081 which sets the SP access code for normal SP useage, and closely related to the subject of this thread. There are others but I have only bumped into those by happenstance, so I can't provide you a comprehensive list.

In any event, in my humble opinion, no one should be encouraged to use Factory SP unless access to a particular function is required.

There are a number of SP settings that I used to use that Ricoh has moved to Factory SP.

Yes SP5-081 is not there but factory has all the main SP nodes you beed so if someone changed in the 806182 its no big deal.

I have a few in public spaces & IT insist on locking down everything & changing all passwords etc understandably especially if they are charging for users or the public for prints/copies.

                        same as always

you know i been a member on this site since 2009 I try not to bother people with stupid questions that are obvious for any ricoh tech, but it seems like you always get a smart ass response from someone why apparently is so much fricking smarter then everyone else.

I does seem like it's always the same, not from you, but just everyone posting and asking for service mode access and firmware. There is a reason that information is kept as quiet as possible. An untrained person could quickly ruin their machine by pressing the wrong buttons in service mode. Ricoh does not even put the service mode access codes in the service manual.

Please don't take it personnel, this is just not the place to get that type of information.

Not to mention the fact that Ricoh has already changed the Service Mode access code once because too many unauthorized people knew the old one. So far when they have changed it they have done so with new models only, though it would be possible to do so on older model simply with a firmware update.

You can't change service mode login you can only change user tool admin login to bring back to default enter factory service mode sp 5846 46# clear then reboot
