Mpc4502a With single pass feeder sc700-00

Client got a small sticky stuck in the machine and they removed it before I got there. Unfortunatley it then started to go into an sc700-00 condition randomly. I went through the feeder and did not find anything else stuck in there. Pulled the covers and checked gears and they all look good. I ran a couple of hundred through it fine then two hours later they call back with the same problem. Any thoughts ?

I don't see a SC700-00 in the service manual. Are you sure it is SC700-'00'

Indeed - SC700 start at 01 (both on the manual and on my-ricoh). If the machine is indeed giving out that error, then I'd start asking questions - where did the customer remove that sticky residue from, what kind of residue it was and, most importantly, if it's a foreign substance, billing the customer is probably not out of the question.

Sorry, typo it is 700-01. I went through and cleaned everything and am going back again today and will check again. I personally ran a couple of hundred pages and it worked perfect and as I said they called back a couple of hours later stating that code came back. Thank you all for any tips.

try to unhook it from the machine and shake it upside down.

This looks silly, but it's actually a good advise imho.

I went back today and ran over 900 pages through the feeder without a single problem so I guess whatever was in there worked its way out

Imho it may work and it may be terrible depending on Chaos theory. You know all that stuff laying inside will find new places hopefully outside DF but sometimes inside. That been said I also consider the idea, never thought of that

That's easier said than done with the SPDF, but if you do, be prepared for the rain of paper clips and old staples.

Now you can check/clean the correct sensor.

When you ran a couple of hundred pages were they 2 or 3 at a time or stacks of 10 or more. 2 or 3 at a time is the way to test a lift table problem.
