    yes the nv-ram are those
    Thanks for confirming.

We often get devices back that have had the SP mode entry changed so we usually just fit a new nvram, however IF this works is useful to know.

So, does this literally wipe EVERYTHING & set the SP mode entry back to 806182 (if it was changed?)

How about the address book, if I was to unplug the HDD do the nvram switch, then reconnect the HDD would it prompt for a HDD format ?

That's why used machine suppliers are able to sell printers that are declared almost new at a high price due to reset meters!
Any solution to Reset NV Ram Meter Reading to "0"

they are called "reconditioned" and are mainly rented and replaced, they are almost like new, with warranty, and with all the main parts replaced, they are really an excellent investment, customers are happy, and they spend less ... Also ricoh supply this service.

I haven't tried, but by asking you for the admin password, of course your hands are untied, and you remove all locks.
Tomorrow I have to reset an mpc307, and I change it, pw admin and enter key sp, I'll let you know... even for the address book, which in that context Just mentioned is usually non-existent.

I speak from my experience and unfortunately I have not been lucky with the "refurbished" used one, I must have got the wrong supplier. I prefer, if I really have to recondition them myself. Now I have good suppliers Ricoh, Kyocera with 30/40k max of actually produced pages, not bad.

every now and then a little defect occurs, for example a broken cabinet door, a broken smar panel, or maybe some card that fails, I just have to identify the fault, take some photos, send them via email with the serial number of the machine, and in pairs within days they send me the replacement piece, but this also happens with the new ones, for example, we took 3 new imc2000s, and one arrived with a cracked smart panel.
however, there are 3 levels of remanufactured, based on this the price changes

I don't see any issue with this. It's not like you're trying to see a low mileage ford etc.

Makes perfect sense to put a rental copier in with a zero counter.

I have heard that to clear the NVram you can fit it upside down (incorrectly) then power on the device, especially useful if the SP entry code has been changed etc.

Sounds very dodgy, just wondered if anyone has tried this!?

We use this method in machines that we recondition for rent. Remember to create a backup copy of sp5824 and every time you invert the nvram dump the copy of sp5825

hi, yesterday, i did this test on mpc307.
i changed password to admin, and i activated machine admin with sp mode lock, and created dummy user, after reverse it asked me for password again, and i left blank, sp mode unlocked by itself, and dummy user is gone

                      Thank you for trying this.

Did you change the SP entry code first then it reverted back to default of 806182 ?

By zeroing the total counters all consumables are back to 100% like new machine?
I can imagine some bad actors(not real techs) use this for illegal purposes.

no friend, I blocked the access to the sp through the machine administrator, after that, obviously by resetting the administrator password, you can unlock whatever you want, it was not necessary to change the sp entry code, anyway, see you next time, I'll try and let you know
