Ricoh Firmware Update Tool!! Oh wait, it doesn't work.
Re: Ricoh Firmware Update Tool!! Oh wait, it doesn't work.
I just tried the tool on an MP C4503.
While it updated the Java to the latest version (which was nice), it said that the firmware currently installed (which it did read correctly) was current, and it absolutely is not.
I checked TSRC to see what is current. Some of the firmware on this beast is almost 3 years old compared to what is posted!!
And no, I did not mess up between the NOP and SOP versions; I know that is easy to do. In fact, in my experience, the only 4503s with that option I have ever seen in the field are those that came off demo room floors.

Yes this tool, although useful, is not 100% faultless.
On the old METIS it is still preferable to update both the latest .pkg file then any remaining files using romdata method via SD card.

While it's not perfect, it's a good option for the folks that don't have access to SD card firmware.

I remember when Package firmware first came out it did not include peripherals like Doc Feeders, Finishers and Paper Banks/LCT/LCIT. It also was often as much as two weeks behind on main machine modules. And then there were customers with custom feature firmware engineered specifically for them. You had to make sure you had that available after loading package.

I was asked to do a complete firmware update on a Pro C9200 and all of the options last week, took most of the day.

While I was still working, even the West Coast Dealer support rep when he would visit said he did updates the same way. Package then individual modules on SD to get those not included in the package and finally all options.

I have terrible experience updating firmware on a mpcxxx3 serie!
The only trouble I ever had with them was trying to keep up with the frequency of update releases. Often 2 or 3 a day and 4 or 5 days a week.Especially in the first 6 months.

Are you positive that the C3503 does not contain Custom Firmware? There are a lot of industry specific customizes firmware modules. The only way to know is to print the installed firmware list and compare it to the latest firmware history.
Giusto!...it is usually understood because they have a "strange" nomenclature than usual

Can I ask 1 question?
If the software version of the machine is the latest, will the old software card be recognized when the machine is inserted? I tried updating via WIM but nothing happened. When using SDCard, the machine also says E34.

It usually should recognize it even if the FW is older, perhaps the SD card has not been prepared or handled correctly. I think you know that the files for WIM and SD card method aren't the same?

Yes, I changed the file extension to .rfu and ran it with WIM. On the card, I put the .fwu extension.
Can I run a custom firmware for system/copy with another model firmware? Thanks you
