i know only two stile, since al 2004 have the conctact front flange ,up to 2004 have a metal shaft conctact and wax bar mechanism (bad idea for me, they continualy smear the charge rollers)....dont buy a rebuild kit , i tried them , they do suck, and you lost time and money, you can buy a pre-assembled compatible pcu, i dont know if avaliable for your country, but i use for example for 3004 he part code RIMPC3504DR for black , and RIMPC3504C for color pcu's from PRO-PARTS branded

I don't work on many Ricoh's and had a question. The customer sent me a sample and it's showing black lines. I was going to order a black drum unit but they are very expensive. I see rebuild kits but confused because there are two to chose from "old style" & "new style" drums only & rebuild kits. How can you tell what drum it is, new or old style? How hard is it to rebuild the drum unit?
Thanks in advance

Yes that will stop the lines but they will return. they are caused by toner bypassing the cleaning blade so the cleaning blade ( could be paper fuzzy caught there) should be checked and cleaned also if you want to do a complete repair.Larhal

I tried twice, with disappointing results, in my opinion, it's that damned wax system, which stains everything, if it's not scratched you might as well wash it with hot water and soap, it lasts the same, moreover they cost a fortune 90-100 euros (in italy) in fact my boss didn't want to buy them anymore, because by adding 20-30 euros we can buy a new compatible complete pcu from pro-parts, that work pretty well."loneliness is an invention of the white man, when we are alone we talk to everything around us, we are never alone" (Ojibwa)👍 1Comment

Thanks again eveyone for the tech tips. I ordered the whole black PCDU because meter is 400k. From the suggestions here I told the customer we can try just a new charge roller unit but may not last that long. They elected to get whole new PCDU. And yes PCDU is very expensive, over $1,000 here in USA! Even though customer is paying for it I hate paying that much. I work mostly on Kon/Min and their Drums & DV units are expensive but not that crazy high! Plus it's very rare to replace complete DV unit or developer on a kon/min because it's always being refreshed by the developer mixed in with toners. Like Ricoh Kon/min drums use a PCR which will eventually cause lines. The Kon/Min old style drums that used corona charger & grid could last 2 life cycles or more! They say the change to pcr was to lower ozone emission, ha-ha I think more because they weren't selling many drums👍 1Comment

Appreciate the advice. I actually ordered the PCDU through Precision roller, shows special order allow 10 days . Been doing biz with them for many years. I find their prices are high even with my discount and more for the end user who they openly sell to! I use them for items my other vendors don't carry like real parts. Shame their prices are so high because they are a very good run company and would use them a lot more.👍 1Comment

I put new black PCDU unit and all is good. Had one question, the service manual shows to use that purple tool to wind up the seal when installing new black PCDU unit, but this new PCDU has a gear assembly where it looks like you would have wound it up with tool. I put both old and new units side by side and only difference is this added gear assembly. I'm assuming this is a new style PCDU and seal is wound up automatically with these added gears? Thanks again👍 2Comment

New version PCDU no need the purple thing. Ricoh add some gear in front of dvtank.
