    ARM355N bleeding through 2 sided

This only occurs when using the df doing 2-2 sided, good original. Have done the white reference, with and without paper between the DF glass, also tried adjusting sim 46-17 to default 112 and 128. Still get the same result. Have newest ROM update. Question on sim 46-17, I changed the results from 77,77,189 to the defaults 112,112,128. Ran the white reference again and the sim values changed back to 77,77,189, is this normal? Here is a copy of the image first page and second page with the bleed through. Any suggestions would be fantastic.

Thank you for your time and effort in this matter.

Well, you're in the right TC (46-17), but I wouldn't rely on the defaults; instead, experiment with the CIS settings. You've had bleed through with 189 and 128, try going lower.

I don't know about the 46-17 defaults. Based on the 46-17 readings I would suspect a problem with the CIS, the white plate, or the distance/alignment of the two.

The things that I would check are:
      1) make sure that the white reference (seen through the slit glass) is clean and in good condition.
      2) make sure that the SPF closes evenly at the front. A worn or misadjusted hinge can cause the front edge to stay open a few mm.
      3) make sure that the CIS aligns well with the white plate through the slit glass. Some techs try to adjust out SPF skews with the right hinge adjuster. All that does is misalign the white level reference. It's difficult to measure. Close the SPF as low as you can and still hold a ruler. Use your 6" metric scale to measure the space from the edge of the black SPF guide mylar to the right edge of the slit glass. The distance should be the same at the front as at the rear. If it's way off you can start by roughly aligning the corners of the SPF with the corners of the scanner. You'll be within adjusting range then.
      4) Reseat connectors to the CIS and check the harness from CIS to scanner board.
      5) Are you sure that it's side-2 on the CIS side? I've seen something similar happen when the white plate below the index plate on the glass starts to peel off, or gets dirty, but that's side-1 for the CCD.

You can adjust second side shading manually in 46-20, if needed. I would be curious if forcing the values to 128, 128, 128, would correct the issue.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks blackcat and zootech. Went back today and tried to force the 46-17 settings. Helped a little but not enough. Replaced the CIS, same issue so I replaced the scan board. That fixed the problem. I also noticed that the old scan board serial number was all x's. I don't know what that means but when I replaced it I got a legitimate serial number. The 46-17 numbers are still off from the defaults but since it's working I'm leaving it alone for now.

        Thanks again for the help.
