I have an error code L1 on my Sharp Copier and cannot clear it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

L1-00 is a mirror home position error. The mirror unit didn't return home.
Check it to see if something is stopping it, also check the bearings and cable assembly to make sure it is aligned properly. Ensure you can move it freely by hand and then test it's operation using Sim 1-1 or by resetting the machine and watching it move. Also check that the sensor is working if everything else looks to be ok. -

I have manually moved the mirror across the unit and back. No parts are binding. I also replaced the mirror motor and position sensor. Still no luck.Comment

Have you tried simulation 1-1 to test mirror movement, or simulation 1-2 to test scanner home position sensor?
Does the scanner motor spin with the belt removed? If no, look at the MCU PWB. If yes, excessive scanner belt tension can stall the scanner motor. Inadequate scanner belt tension will mean that the belt jumps.
I had one case where the wire ties were too tight to the scanner home position sensor. When I had tried everything else I could think of, I finally clipped the wire ties that support the harnass. Looser wire ties resolved this one case. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If the motor and sensor did not fix it then replace MCU. I would also replace the home position sensor again and really, really watch out for the wiring that goes to the HPS! Check it for any kinks, nicks or squashed spots. This burn't me once. I replaced the sensor, then replaced the MCU, then replaced the sensor and MCU, then found the stupid wiring was shorting to frame and was taking out both the sensor and MCU! So after repairing the wires I replaced the sensor and MCU again! My manager was so pleased with me for using 3 MCU's to fix the issue I will never forget it! Good luck.Comment

The mirror does not move at all in the simulation 1-1. In simulation 1-2 the correct light lights up.

I did the Sim 1-1 and Sim 1-2. On 1-1 nothing happened. On 1-2 the correct light lit up. Since I have replaced the Mirror Motor and HPS I will now order a new Main Board.Comment

Before replacing the MCU you might want to try what Blackcat mentioned... Remove the drive belt going to the mirror assembly from the motor and test the motor. There are times when you can slide the mirror assembly by hand but there is enough drag for the motor to not be able to move it.Comment

Can't hurt to try what OEC said, but go with the main board. If you have bad luck then the motor takes out the board and the board takes out the motor. Very rare! I would put my money on the main board. If you still can't solve it then replace main pwb and mirror motor at the same time. If this ends up fixing it then you will never forget it. Learn something new everyday! It happens all the time. Again, good luck!Comment
