Re: Let the truth be known
Where do you come up with that stuff?
Who do you think invented the light bulb?
Though he didn't come up with the whole concept, his light bulb was the first that proved practical, and affordable, for home illumination. The rest were crude and simply failed ideas.
Bottom line: None of the men who contributed to the invention of the light bulb were black as Biden claims.
Biden is pandering to black people. Simple as that.Last edited by BillyCarpenter; 09-05-2020, 05:39 AM.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Let the truth be known
Melt down? Come on dude. I never accused you of saying a black man invented the light bulb. I was VERY CLEAR that Biden said that.
Lets try again. The part that I directed to you was a very simple question: Who do you credit for inventing the light bulb?Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Let the truth be known
Here's the first person who attempted to make a light bulb:
The story of the light bulb begins long before Edison patented the first commercially successful bulb in 1879. In 1800, Italian inventor Alessandro Volta developed the first practical method of generating electricity, the voltaic pile. Made of alternating discs of zinc and copper — interspersed with layers of cardboards soaked in salt water — the pile conducted electricity when a copper wire was connected at either end. While actually a predecessor of the modern battery, Volta's glowing copper wire is also considered to be one of the earliest manifestations of incandescent lighting.
Can we credit him for the invention of the light bulb? I mean, he used cardboard soaked in salt water.
For instance, if I put a fan blowing on a block of ice back in the 1800's, did I just invent air conditioning?
EDIT: So, Volta is the person that proved (invented) the first example that applying voltage to a thin wire could produce incandescent light. Every man after that saw the potential to invent a true light bulb that would be both practical and affordable.
If you want to get all technical, I suppose you could credit Volta for the light bulb...even though he wasn't trying to invent the thing. Which is why Edison is credited with being the inventor. And it's probably why you refuse to credit anyone with inventing the light bulb.Last edited by BillyCarpenter; 09-05-2020, 12:11 PM.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Let the truth be known
It was more of a group effort.
In 1840, British scientist Warren de la Rue developed an efficiently designed light bulb using a coiled platinum filament in place of copper, but the high cost of platinum kept the bulb from becoming a commercial success.
What Edison did was improve on the existing idea. He was convinced he could develop the first practical incandescent lighting system, and–with a team of inventors and staff–he set out to do just that.
BTW: Most discoveries/inventions are the result of a lot of folks contributions but somebody gets credit for an invention.
Edit: The Wright Bros. are credited with inventing the airplane but they stood on the shoulders of ideas from others in countries across the world. But they flew the worlds first sucessful airplane.Last edited by BillyCarpenter; 09-05-2020, 03:07 PM.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Let the truth be known
So, in your mind nobody invented the light bulb...it was a group effort. Was Edison part of that group? Earlier you said that he stole the idea. Do you stand by that?
