The only bubble to was yours for not researching your comments. Although there were a number of individuals worldwide trying to come up with a way to use an electric current to produce a method to light up the night, Thomas Edison was the first to actually develop, invent, glowing filament light source encased in a glass bulb. Edison's bulb used a filament base on cloth fiber and lasted about 15 hours of use before the filament burnt out.

Lewis Howard Latimer was a black engineer and draftsman who had after the civil war worked in the US Patent office. He had worked with Alexander Bell on the invention of the telephone and had help Bell with the submission of Bell's patent. Later Latimer worked with Edison on the light bulb. Again he assisted with the patent application.

About a year after Edison patented the "light bulb" Latimer developed and patented a filament for light bulbs made entirely of carbon which lasted much longer than Edison's filament.

Edit: The Wright Bros. are credited with inventing the airplane but they stood on the shoulders of ideas from others in countries across the world. But they flew the worlds first sucessful airplane.
There you go again, misquoting what I posted. You know I said he either stole it or bought it, I'm not sure which. Doing things like that makes you look like you will do anything to prove you are right, maybe even take a Sharpie to a weather map. Lol

Sorry Slim. Edison and his crew were the first to do it so it could be mass produced economically, but not the first to make a glowing filament within a glass bulb. Dig a little deeper dude

Yeah, you're not sure which because you're throwing sh!t at the wall hoping something sticks. But nothing does, it just stinks.

This little game you're playing can be said about damn near every invention in the world.

Edison didn't do shit, Slim. He either stole or bought the idea for the lightbulb.

I wouldn't say exactly that, but he did buy a patent.

On July 24, 1874, Woodward and his partner, Mathew Evans, a hotel keeper, filed a Canadian patent application on an electric light bulb.[2][3] It was granted on August 3, 1874 as Canadian patent number 3,738.[4] Woodward was a medical student at the time. Their light bulb comprised a glass tube with a large piece of carbon connected to two wires. They filled the tube with inert nitrogen to get a longer burn life in the filament.[1] Their light bulb was fully effective and sufficiently promising; they sold their U.S. Patent 181,613 to Thomas Edison and due to this Edison is now known for the invention of the light bulb

But you DID SAY EXACTLY THAT.

People buy a patent for any number of reasons. Sometimes it's just being smart by eliminating competition. I know you haven't thought this thing through, but this was big business back then and there was a lot of money on the line.

For you to say that Edison either stole or bought his idea is sloppy and reckless. Besides you can't have 2 patents for the same invention. And Edison's lightbulb had his patent. So there's that.

I don't know you personally so I have no vested interest in discrediting you personally. But if you're gonna make these wild statements that he stole or bought his invention, show some evidence. You threw the word "stole" in there. Not me.

The ol' classic 'bait and switch'.

Instead of providing evidence about your claims on Edison's lightbulb, you switch to The x-ray and voice recorder. Stick to the subject. I'm not chasing you down the rabbit hole.

Bottom Line: You provided no evidence that Edison stole or bought his idea. I already told you Edison got his own patent for HIS lightbulb. He didnt' use the one he bought.

It's okay to admit you're wrong. Now would be a good time to do that.

Stop it. I know what I asked for. I didn't ask for evidence that Edison presented others inventions as his own. That's an outright FALSEHOOD.

I asked you to provide evidence to back up YOUR statement that Edison either stole or bought his idea for the lightbulb.

Obviously you can't do that or you would have done it already.
