Re: Gun Control
Right to bear arms
The right to bear arms has existed in English common law for at least 300 years and is imported into Canadian law by the preamble of the BNA Act, 1867 and section 26 of the Charter. Section 26 declares that traditional rights not listed in the Charter continue to have force and effect in Canada. The first explicit recognition of the right to bear arms in British-Canadian law occurs in the 1689 Bill of Rights. It is re-affirmed by the celebrated Blackstone in his Commentaries as one of the five most important rights of British subjects; and confirmed in several 18th and 19th century precedents. Although this right is subject to regulation by parliament, in Sparrow (1990), the Supreme Court affirmed that regulation of a right does not automatically extinguish the right. The right to bear arms is thus an historical right of all Canadians; affirmed by section 26 of the Charter.

Re: Gun Control
Snoop Lion is among the many Americans who want Congress to make a move on a new gun control policy. Visiting HuffPo Live, Snoop weighed in on the issue, urging politicians to open their eyes. "Politicians, you all got to pay attention, man," he said. "This world that we live in, it's so easy to get your hands on a gun. You've got to put some restrictions or ramifications on it. I can go outside right now and buy a gun. Easy. Just like that. You all should really think about it before it hits home, before it hits one of your family members or it hits you or affects someone personally that you know."

Later on that day
My homey Dr. Dre came through with a gang of Tanqueray
And a fat ass J, of some bubonic chronic that made me choke
Shit, this ain't no joke
I had to back up off of it and sit my cup down
Tanqueray and chronic, yeah I'm fucked up now
But it ain't no stoppin, I'm still poppin
Dre got some bitches from the city of Compton
To serve me, not with a cherry on top
Cause when I bust my nut, I'm raisin up off the cot
Don't get upset girl, that's just how it goes
I don't love you hoes, I'm out the do'
And I'll be

Wow! What a video... and many people whine that proposed laws restricting large capacity ammo clips for civilian use impedes their rights under the 2A. The 2A was written in 1791, 222 years ago.
Certainly, if the muskets of the time were still being commonly used today there would be a lot fewer bullets sold and a lot fewer firearms fatalities and a lot less profits for the gun industry.
Oh, wait, you don't have any of the guarantees listed in the Bill Of Rights. That stinks.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
At the time the 2A was written the brown bess musket was the most powerful weapon of it's day. So having a semi auto rifle or handgun today is in line with what the founding fathers of this country would have expected. Background checks, I don't care one way or the other. 10 round clips, don't care one way or the other. Niether one will make any differance.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Maybe to make this thread more productive, we should post tips about how not to get shot in America. i have a couple.
When traveling on the road in America, don't flip anybody off, they may have a gun.
If you are involved in a verbal confrontation with someone and they turn and walk back to their car, you better run, they are going to get their gun.
Never joke about robbing a place, the clerk has a gun.
If you are in the rural south, everyone is armed.
At a bar or club, the safest place is inside, all the guns are in the parking lot.
You should only hear firecrackers on July 4th and New Years Eve.The rest of the year it's going to be gunfire.
If you are somewhere there is a lot of people and a bunch of them start running...RUN!
I hope this helps any of you planning to visit.Leave a comment:

Re: Gun Control
Most of the murders are from handguns . Rifles were used in 358 murders in the year 2010. So called assult rifles are not the problem. There are close to 20,000 laws on the books reguarding firearms. Do you really think a few more are going to have any effect on the murder rate?Leave a comment:

Article states the family had no known ties to the gang, but the neighbourhood is known to have gang-related activity regularly apparently.
