When you say "Christians" do you mean all religions, except the religion of evolution of course, or are you just singling then out? Because there are many.
Sure, I could scour the internet for articles to help me make my point, but, that is too easy. There are lots to argue both sides I'm sure, so I choose not to read any more of them.
Anyway, I am not "floundering in the dark" and I don't need to be "enlightened". An open mind is not a bad thing, but thanks fot caring. lol
Sure I know that was a stupid analogy to make but why are there still monkeys sounds just as a silly to me. I actually could regroup and use the one where Christians tell me that Noah only had one pair of each type of animal and all the different types we have today EVOLVED from them.

It was well written and made really good points. He was able to touch on issues in a very non threatening way, that I may have hit on in a much more aggressive manner.

So, I think most of you can get an idea of my views, so what are yours? At this point only 4 of you are participating, so in fairness, what are your basic beliefs? Are any of you Young Earth Creationist? Do you believe the earth is only a few thousand years old? Do you accept the bible as literal?

I think people are comforted "knowing" where we came from and where we are going, so they latch onto a system that explains it to their satisfaction.
Personally, nothing out there at the moment does that for me.
To say creatures on earth evolved is one thing, but, not being able to explain where life came from is crazy. Everybody knows you can't make something out of nothing. It is certainly ridiculous to say it came from a ball of goo in a primordial pond. Where did this amazing pond come from? And how did this ball of goo form in this pond?
Anyway, here I sit, on the fence just waiting for the explaination. lol. And no, I do not believe evolution is it. Someday, someone will happen upon something. Someone who doesn't have a vested interest in perpetuating something to justify their paycheque.

I've got to give you credit for open mindedness, fix. And a huge dollup of patience which I don't share.

A conversation like this typically draws all the loons out of the woodwork, all spouting their favorite lunacy in evangelical certainty. None of them listening. All just screaming their individual beliefs to no one in particular, as loudly as possibly, quite possibly hoping to convince themselves in the process.

Personally I have no need to be saved, prayed for, preached to, ... or just generally have my ear chewed off by someone who is too busy talking to notice that I don't care.

My personal philosophy is very simple. Everyone has a right to their personal delusions. It's not my place or yours to dislodge or correct these delusions as long as we can remain reasonably peaceful about it, and manage not to harm each other too badly. I realize that this viewpoint may not endear me to some of your posters, but I think that I can live with it.

Now look what I've done. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks Blackcat. I knew the can of worms I was opening when I started this, and would have taken bets as to how many pages it would take before someone lost their mind. I consider it a success it has gone this far and remained civil. I had no delusions about changing someones mind, or them changing mine.

You see, truth is, I really am an alien overlord. Actually in the Galactic Empire ,Overlord is not a very high ranking title. Being sent to this shit hole of a planet is proof of that. I am more of a supervisor who is here to observe and report back, and you guys have failed. This is the 400th time we have set up a planet to try to get the inhabitants to worship robots as a religion. That's Right! Robots! All of your religious figures were robots that either went bad or were destroyed by you humans. Look at the Mosesbot. His CPU went bad and he started writing crazy laws, shit about boiling goats in mothers milk. And didn't you guys clue in when he wandered around the desert for 40 years? His GPS was broken and he was lost, what is wrong with you people, you turned that into some story about God being pissed. Those God things you pray to are just giant HDDs that control the bots, and they were made by a low bidder in another galaxy, so they freeze up all the time. And that would be why you haven't heard from god in a couple thousand years. Now lets talk about Jesus. He wasn't nailed to a cross, his wires got crossed. That would explain how he "rose from the dead". Someone fixed him. Humans can't rise from the dead, only robots.

As far as humans being able to understand the complex beginnings of life, well have you ever tried to explain to a human how a copier works, and got the "deer caught in headlights" look? You guys aren't ready yet.

Thanks for posting. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks like him. As far as I know the universe is 13.5 billion years old. Science also tells me the universe had a beginner and was no accident. Science also tells me life had a beginner and we did not evolve. Fix, being an alien overlord explains a lot. I guess that's what Jesus meant when he said "I have other sheep that are not of this pen".

''You are a very wise man, blackcat'', I must admit this fact. Your 'joining' of the thread at this particular moment reminds me of the Biblical story in the book of 'JOB'. The story of a good man (Job) who suffers total disaster- he loses all his children and property and is afflicted with a repulsive disease. Then in three series of poetic dialogues, the aurthor shows how Job's friends and Job himself react to these calamities.

*** In the end, God Himself, whose dealings with humanity have been a prominent part of the discussion, appears to Job; ''Then out of the storm the Lord spoke to Job, 'Who are you to question my wisdom with your, empty words........''. [ Pse, Don't take the word 'STORM' literally!]
                              - The point is, one would falsely imagine that 'blackcat' has not been interested or following this thread right from the beginning, and then all of a sudden 'BANG!!!', he drops in to weigh in in the conversation. At least to my amazement!
Like a wise old man who patiently listens while ,the children are arguing 'over nothing' and then all of a sudden he intervenes with words of wisdom. For doing this you get the flowers!
