As if I didn't have enough hearing problems anyway, thanks to the M16A2, the M249 and the M18. Also the D.I.P. training in OMEMS.
      God, that was fun!

What squeaking sound? I believe you, but I don't hear it.

I have also given up some hearing, during my High School years as a result of spending summers standing in front of a punch press. Interestingly, I have lost hearing in only a fairly narrow frequency range. It's mainly womens or childrens high pitched voices. I spent an entire family get together watching my aunt's lips move, and wondering what she might be saying. She had that particular frequency that I just could not hear at all. Lip reading works OK for me with native US English speakers, but she had a Russian pronunciation which confounded my lips reading efforts. Twice I apologized that due to no fault of hers, I could not hear her. It did not prevent her from continuing to talk at me. She must have though that I was some kind of idiot. She was probably right. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'm a tad envious of the post card scenery. I do appreciate the great outdoors.

You can have the cold weather though.

I am surprised I can hear at all. As a young man I spent time working in the machining dept. for a Weber carb factory. Would spend my pay going to concerts at the small local arena. It was always general admission, with no seats on the floor. I could work my way up to the stage, right in front of a stack of speakers. I remember the place only held about 5,500 people but some bands would still stack all the amps they used in bigger halls. 38 Special was really loud. Bands like Rush, AC/DC, Ozzy and Blue Oyster Cult didn't hold back either. Later on I would spend 13 years in a steel forge facility where it was so loud that you had to be with in a few feet of someone who was yelling loudly to be able to hear them. Although I can hear pretty well, I don't advertise it. Maybe sometimes I wan't to sit and ignore someone who is speaking. If I get called out on it, I just tell them how I abused my ears over the years and ask them to speak louder.

Every now and then I will do it to the manager.

                Her... Are you ignoring me?
Me...I'm trying but you're not making it easy.

                  Mondine

                  Mondine "Mun-deen" (noun)
Term for the beginning of the workweek when I've been up since 0100, for a certain reason (long story), and am being kept awake with caffeine, nicotine and willpower.

Bring on the service calls! There isn't much that could make this day worse, and it's only 0900 now.

Last edited by TheBlueOrleans; 08-08-2016, 02:07 PM. Reason: added pronunciation, for those who might choose to speak the term.

I predict that those two screws will mysteriously go missing and not find their way back into their designated positions.

I had a horrible nightmare the other night. In it I was working on a plotter and installing a board. Just as I am inserting a ribbon cable, I notice the machine is on but I can't stop. It crackles and pops and smoke comes out of it. Still gives me chills. Also, I think my wife was leaving me and my house had burned, not sure, those parts are a bit foggy.

I had a dream I was installing an internal finisher in a !!!!!. When I was done I tested it and the paper came out was stacked and the grippers pushed the paper past the tray onto the floor. My service manager saw this and said

                        "Is that supposed to happen"

"Well I have followed the instructions"

                        "OK no worries"

Saw a dead guy on the side of road on my way to work on Monday morning. Figured maybe a homeless person had died from the cold night we had on Sunday. Found out it was actually the crazy neighbourhood bum. He'd walk around talking to himself, sometimes yelling at passing cars, seemed pretty harmless though.
People had tried to admit him to an institution, but he had no known family and apparently the hospitals/mental asylums would discharge him because of that. On Monday morning someone stabbed him while in the bathroom that he slept in.

Even if he caused trouble - he was clearly 'not all up there' and surely did not deserve to be murdered.

I never spoke to you and do not know your name, but I give you a moment of silence today and this small eulogy on CTN. Goodnight sweet prince.

.... Reading anything like the above always leaves a void in my stomach.
I've always taught my children, and some of their friends:
"When you give the world is full of abundance and happiness."
"When you take the world if full of poverty, hardship."

In a world where horses and similar animals are given a warm blanket, shelter from the cold, an a daily food ration. In a world where there are so many empty financially repossessed houses.
In a world where industrial kitchen scrap bins are full of every day waste food.
People(less worth than animals) live out in the cold streets while starving of hunger.
