Hahahaha..........ahaaa, "poor bondofox and the cute-looking babe". I remember the psychologist, late sigmund
fred once wrote: " 95% of a man's brain is always thinking about women!". I think there's some truth in this statement. I don't blame u though my dear bondofox, we meet these daughters of EVE, everyday in work routine.

In my younger days when I was still "active" we could even exchange some pleasantries and even numbers, alas no more. You will eventually outgrow those feelings with time. But frankly speaking some of those dudes can make one "drop dead".

You can image my distress when I see this poor dead beast lying on it's back on the palate, with three large bands cutting through the covers. Their first question was how to stand it up again. We used straps and a forklift.

It was a total loss. Every single board on the back of the machine was shattered into bits the size of a quarter (25 mm) or smaller. I was able to rescue the imaging unit, developing unit, and some drive components, which were set aside to repair the three other NP-6060's on-site.

The hardest part was explaining to the comptroller that this was a usable machine until it was put onto the truck, and now it's scrap. =^..^=

Re: What was your biggest oopsy on a call??

The customer owned the machine outright, and moved it in one of their own semis, with their own employees. We (the copier dealer) had no part in the move, and no knowledge of it until it arrived.

It was just a case of really bad judgment on the part of the warehouse people.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Lol reminds me of one time ,I was working on an IR600 had the transport assy pulled out to change a fan I think, it was in a really small area with my back to the machine I squatted down to get something from my kit and caught the ass of my pants and tore them from stem to stern! Of coarse it was an office full of ladies lol.A quick trip to the washroom after I borrowed a roll of packing tape and I was good for the rest of the afternoon!

Re: What was your biggest oopsy on a call??

Well, I registered here ages ago (back when I joined any forum that had anything to do with digital printing) and never came back for a long time - because this is a tech's forum.

And I'm an operator. A fussy digital printer who knows how to get into the engineer's menu. Your favourite!
Seriously though, never managed to wreck the machines because I don't mess with settings that I don't understand. To get good quality/registration (especially on one of the machines) they don't give you any option except to go in there.

Nevertheless, decided to have a wee look at yer OT section here and there's some hilarious threads, much coffee has been spat everywhere! Plenty of grimacing at some of the injuries you guys have done to yourselves too!

Enough rambling though, I need to get the point -

DOES ne1 hav a [k]racked Xerx PWS program 4 my printr???

I kid you, I just wanted to share a couple of stories.

First one, for a mistake, the area service manager came into give the IBT cleaner a hoover out (having big problems with waste toner system on 700 for a few months for some reason and this company is very tight with parts) and I saw him put a massive dent in the IBT belt when ramming the assembly back into the machine. I think our tech was off or unavailable at the time which is why he was sent instead.
Anyways, starts running some test copies and sweating - he knows I'm not stupid. Mumbled excuse and he got the hell outta there. I don't let him work on the machine any more - not just because of this once incident, there's been plenty of other mistakes - I'd rather clean the damn thing myself... Luckily we were only down for a day as they got the part quickly enough. Worst part was that we had a spare machine (different model, same part) sitting there he could have taken the belt from. Ahh well.

Second one, an injury for me. Our service company offered to move our machines to new premises for a (very reasonable) fee, my boss however decided that we should do it ourselves. Of course I'm the bloke in the back of the van, trying to stop two engines, two finishers and a HCF deck from sliding about the place. Tie them down? Pah! No way! Managed to just about get them to the new premises... getting them out of the van was another adventure. Those engines are basically a very heavy cuboid, with no ground clearance and nothing to hold on to!

Anyways, as we did the small-steps shuffle with the HCF, I thought I would adjust my grip, and after the machine was put back down I wondered where that red trail had come from :S

Sufficed to say I'd managed to slice open my wrist on one of the many unmilled edges of the finisher. Required a quick trip to the hospital and three stitches! Still, is a useful scar for making jokes about how damn stressful printing is and how this place once pushed me to cutting my wrist open :P

Next time if the boss doesn't want to hire the pros to do the moving, I think I'll be requiring hazard pay

The biggest oopsy I ever made was agree to work on half of an HP. Those were my earlier days, couldn't figure out why the machine shot paper out...but it was too funny not to put on youtube.

Don't worry we figured it out eventually, balled customer and he assured me that we had the entire printer and that it never did anything like this before...hour later he shows up at our office with a certain hp cover....problem solved

has been a few. one that springs to mind is working on a lexmark printer (cant remember the model). had to remove the fuser, but got complacent. turned the machine off but forgot that the fuser is live still without unplugging it. wacked a screwdriver down onto the AC inputs of the lamp to pry the connectors off and got a boot. circuit breaker shut down and killed the power to half of the school (after making me jump a couple of feet and welding the screwdriver to the side of the printer. couldnt fine the fusebox so school stuffed as well as the admin side. they freaked out and said i should see the school nurse. like no. then rang my boss who laughed it off and settled them down saying thats part and parcel

At a call when my wife called with issues regarding my 17 son and high school (didn't want to go and failing 12th grade). She thought putting him on the phone with me might help..after about 30 secs of chatting he said he didn't care and wasn't going. Lost my temper and said something to the effect of "get to school right now or I come home and kick your ass all the way there, and hung up. 5 min later my boss is on the phone to me asking if I was aware that I was doing a service call in the child advocate center for the county courthouse and every one in the office now thought i was a child abuser and never wanted me back again. Did get it straighted out with the customer and BTW my son is now in 13th grade, but this time around getting all A's. Emujo

Re: What was your biggest oopsy on a call??

I was working on a machine and had to change some parts around the back. Moved the machine and went down on my knees and felt one of the worst pains. Without a thought I immediately shouted the F-word very loudly. I realised what I had done then ducked behind the machine to hide. I noticed the room was quiet, really quiet. Waited another 30seconds or so and still silence and thought this is strange, can people really be that offended. Then it hit me, I forgot...... I was in a library. Worst part was when I stood up to leave after I was finished fixing the machine. It was like a walk of shame, there was kids, parents, old people, staff and even a vicar in the place. I rarely swear now.

I have never been back in over 2 years but my boss has never said anything to me.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

I guess that's worse than calling your wife and tell her to take care of dinner while working at a feminist's convention. (No, didn't happen to me, just thinking out loud - yep, I'm saying it while I type, I'm just that kind of guy!)

Oooh come on guys, these are all toner spills. everyday stuff !!!
I've dropped a rear panel straight onto an HVT and shorted it out with a very loud bang !
I accidentally shorted out another power supply and took out the entire customer's office supply. I convinced them that it was a power cut and it was really lucky I was here to check that the copier was OK.
I shorted out another PSU, exploding a fuse into my colleagues face. (he is still a good friend by the way).
I've had the usual toner and hoover misshaps of course.
I've zapped myself numerous times with 240V.
I've been locked in a women's prison for an hour after my escort decided to go on lunch break and forgot about me.
A colleague of mine once walked in to a Cruise missile hanger at an airbase while looking for the copier. He was held in a cell for many hours minus his confiscated shoelaces and tie.
OK I know I sound like a bit of a nightmare that shouldn't be out on his own. But this has been over the course of 23 years so cut me some slack guys, I'm not really that bad.
