    C450i SSL Cert Expired

Had this a few times now where a customer will call in and say the scan to email has stopped working, I go out and try a scan and it fails and i check the job log and it states "ssl cert. expired" which I know it has not but when checking I noticed that the machine has changed the date and time back to some time in 2017 - which is why the machine thinks the SSL Cert has expired.

Change date and time back to normal and all working again - anyone came across this?

We've had the date and time go out on 2 different machines that I can recall. We've not seen the the SSL expired error, but it makes sense that you would with the date and time being off.

KM's solution to this problem is to replace the whole baseboard with an updated one that they state has resolved the issue. (See attached bulletin) It supposedly only happens if the customer fully turns off the machine, but I'm not so sure about that.

I say, turn on NTP in the copier, and be done with it...

My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...

That happens from time to time to us. +1 to what femaster said about seting up NTP (Time adjustment). When the batteries die the time drifts. On our fleet we implemented NTP across the board to stop the service calls. If the time is correct and you still get that error check network settings (DNS, gateway, ect.) and disable the cert validation check for SMTP for testing (don't leave it like that).

If I helped you out, please give me a thumbs up! It helps my reputation.

I have this all the time in Florida. Power surges will do this.

i find event with NTP it eventually fails with time update error displaying on main screen.

you can push time correction with CSRC though with pretty decent success rate

You can set the machine to check time more often than the every 24 hour default. Then you could tell your customer to give it x hours to see if the time update error goes away
