    C258 trouble codes D010 - D011

I'm getting D011 & D010 codes which I know are for HDD plus this message popped up one time "preparing security external documents". Tried 3 different HDD's. Won't take reg or reset firmware. If HDD uninstalled it boots up and works good. Is there a "Bizhub Secure" setting to prevent HDD format? Any ideas appreciated?
    Thanks in advance

Sure sounds like bizhub secure to me. Bizhub secure encrypts the hard disk. Have you tried going into the bizhub secure settings to see if anything is turner on?

I've poked around in service mode and admin mode and didn't see anything on. Is there a specific bizhub secure tab or soft switch? is it in admin or serv mode? I will check again.

      Thanks

You will want to get a bizhub secure guide and go through the settings it talks about enabling. Bizhub secure is scattered across admin, service and storage management.

enjoy, You can do a physical format of the hard drive to remove the encryption form it. You will have to do a logical format after doing a physical format

I've tried physical & logical formats on 3 different good working HDD's and none worked. Service manual shows those HDD codes could be bad MFP board.

or Cables going to HDD. Also make sure the HDD is plugged into the right spot. On the 8-series it is capable of having two HDD's. If memory serves me right I think if you only have one HDD it plugs into the top data and power slots of the MFBP

                Try Overwrite All Data function.

That was my thought. There have been very few cases (less than 3) in which the HDD did not resolve a HDD error. It was the MFPB. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

As suspected it turned out to be the MFPB.

Has anyone swapped MFP boards between "8" series with success? I have a C258 and want to swap MFP from a C308.Are the eMMC & 2 eproms transferred from original board to donor board? Thanks

                    All good now.

                    Thanks again

I know you have already swapped boards. But did you try the SATA Controller FW? There was a bulletin and service tool pack for this issue. There was a problem with those machines when they launched. The SATA controller started writing garbage to the SSD which would cause slow boot times, no address book and pretty much all the symptoms you described. If you still have the board it would be interesting to see if that was the problem. Out of my fleet I only had to perform the process on one device so was a rare occurrence.

I may put the bad MFP in the donor machine and mess with it. If still no luck was going to send to Hytec for repair.

Nice, could save you a repair bill.

Note, MY TB is from Olivetti and I am unsure if the FW package names are the same. I have used KM FW on Olivetti machines and vice versa, but you know your stuff I and am confident you should be able to work it out.

The TB I have was relased 27/06/2016 and you will need:

A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-A8 - SATA Controller Firmware Recovery Tool
                          A7PU0Y0-F000-GXX-B0 - SATA Controller Firmware

Let me know if you manage to ressurect it.

Yes they are the same on Konicas.
After update SATA Controller version ends in G00-04.

In service mode does the full controller read A7AH0Y0-6403-04?

Did you perform the recovery first or did you flash the new sata FW first?

Since your machine was already exhibiting the failure conditions(D011 and D050) you will have to run the SATA recovery tool even if the SATA FW has updated correctly to the new version.
