    FK-514

I bought 3 used FK-514 and 2 of them worked fine in "8" series but having an issue with last one in a C450i. As soon as you press onhook , dial number, hear fax tone and press start with original in feeder it goes right to receive mode.
Both small switches on fax board in off position for line 1.
    Latest firmware
Installed & setup by the book, initialized, has correct country code "US"
What I did notice is the wires for fax connector are colored not gray like all the other FK-514 I've seen. Plus there is no label on back of fax with "FK-514". Is this the wrong fax? Again I bought a lot of 3 on ebay so don't know history of this fax.
Also the tab on home screen shows "scan" not "fax/scan". Not sure if it's suppose to have fax on tab with scan?
Thanks in advance for the help

We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

Not sure if it would make a difference but to show the scan/fax button go to Admin> System > Main Menu Default Classic> Highlight one of the blank spots and set it for scan/fax.
I'm writing this from memory so it may not be the exact steps to display the scan/fax button but should get you there.

Do you mean, make sure fax 1 is set under option in serv mode? Or is there somewhere else it would disabled? Could it be a security or soft switch setting?

        Thanks

It does have the #A883011 on back label but the actual pwb has a different #. Just tried again and to be clear as soon as you touch off-hook, dial tone comes on and a box with "receive" highlighted. You can dial a # to send but message shows "press start to receive and at top right corner shows "receiving" even though you have a original in adf. It seems to be set to receive only but like I mentioned in OP I have initalized several times. Both USB & connector are in Fax 1 slots. This was an off lease machine and also initialized before adding fax.

Yes. I have installed at least 25 of the FK-514 using the bottom slot and "FAX 1" connections.

I was going to get another fax kit to try. Probably remove fax from one of my customers who has in machine I sold them but not connected and don't use it.

              Will report back.

              Thanks again

The symptoms sound like your machine is try to do fax polling, not standard sending. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Update: Turns out it was a security setting, admin, security settings, details, restrict fax TX, set to off.

Wanted to add, I found the solution in my last post on Kon/Min dealer site. There is a bulletin addressing this issue. I did look before posting here but didn't show up until I simply searched "fax" under solutions.
