    C360i wont boot

I bought this off lease C360i with 30k meter and was working fine, printed internal test pages etc. Updated firmware with no issues, machine was still working good at this point. Then I did same thing I always do with off lease machine, initialized all settings except "server cache", etc in service mode & timer, air print, turn off market place, etc settings in Admin mode. Again this is same procedure I have done for every off lease machine going back to the 4 series. Machine was still booting up and working fine. Next day powered on and wouldn't boot past 50%. I tried everything in the boot issue bulletins and some suggestions on this forum. When I used the diag/recovery tool both boxes result was "OK" but still didn't boot. Tried rolling back firmware, no help. Last thing I did was booted to firmware update page, input code to recover boot rom. Now the machine is a brick! When powering on there is black screen and all you hear is "click", "click", like a stepping motor taking one step at a time? Also exp lamp flickers each time it clicks. It might be trying to restart over and over?
    Thanks for any help.

To late for this machine, but do update boot rom before updating firmware?
As far as this machine goes sounds like you may have to replace storage board and cpu at the same time.

Would it be worth trying the a789be.tar reset FW mentioned in one of the boot up issue bulletins? It shows to contact SSD for it. Is it available to download on dealer portal or does someone have it?

That would be great if you can send it. Do you need me to PM my email address? Thanks!

from your 'click','click' and exp lamp flicker, could it be, that you are just very unlucky and your power supply died over night?
the 'click','click' could be a relay wich try to close the circut to power on the machine and fail instantly, wich also will short light up the exp lamp.

copyman Someone on forum said before that they use PS from 4e and 8 series in C250i. Sure you have a lot of spare PS from older machines to test Dianon theory.

                      Thanks for the replies.

.tar file and other things suggested didn't work. Relay on PS just keeps clicking with exp lamp flickering. Didn't try PS from a 4e series which I have plenty of. I don't think PS is bad. After looking at the wiring diagrams it appears the PS gets signal from CPU to start so I'm going with a bad CPU. Probably send to Hytec to check out/repair.

Once I find the solution will post.

the relay clicking is a bad cpu/storage combo ill bet.

                        have you tried this?

Install CPU-B from another C250i/C300i or C360i device and check if it starts with the door open,
you will know if it is a CPU-B problem

Are you saying take a good one from a working machine to test? Will it damage the good one taken from donor machine? What about the storage board, do you swap and use the original? Does leaving door open not transfer the meters, etc?

take yours and put in doner machine, if same symptom its the CPU.

the PSU clicking though, it just screams cpu to me.
