Am I getting old........ or... WHAT?

Got from a wholesaler a BH-C-284e with only 40K on the clock. Prints were coming out with four rows of tiny indentations. One row of dents across feeding direction about 2 mm wide, the other dents various lengths running in feeding direction. All indentations 38mm apart and going from the printed side of the paper to the back.

My first idea was either the finisher, fuser or the exit section. Most likely the exit section because of the relatively short distance between them. Took the exit section out for inspection, but since it was very clean and the machine had only 40K I didn't look good enough obviously, so I put it back in place. Then after removing the finisher and bridge unit belonging to it, as well as swapping the fuser but not the exit unit, I discovered that I lost around two hours of my life because my old eyes didn't notice very little deposits of toner on the four black entrance rolls (Page 37, Position 12) on the exit section.

Since the machine has a Fiery I think the previous owner did a lot of fat graphic prints resulting in those molten toner deposits. I have seen this with machines over 300K, but not ones with only 40K, hence I overlooked it. On a positive side, I took the opportunity to modify the exit unit solenoid at least......

Anyone of you guys had a similar experience?

unfortunately it has become a regular maintenance to peel off the toner from those black rollers, the white ones that came later dont steal toner anymore
i like when the fuser is hot you can peel the whole chip off the roller but once cold its like playing with coal rocks.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

+1 on that. I check that on every call. The first time I came across that issue it cost me more that one visit to find that problem.
Black toner on black roller does not pop out.

I think you are looking for reasons to retire?

Think the toner used is also a big factor.
      Whatever

Replace them with clear ones like in 8 series and forget about them. Otherwise they are constant PIA especially in low volume machines. And yes cleaning them involves some pain.

The first time it appeared, I replaced the fuser. Since then I've used my pocketknife to peel the toner layer off those rollers. In my experience it's a lot more common on low volume machines than the high volume ones. If you peel while the fuser is hot, the layer comes off clean in a single piece. When it's cold you damage the plastic and only get tiny shards. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

I've been successful in limiting the toner depositing on those black roller by lowering the fusing temp by 1 notch (5C). Rarely have any buildup on those afterwards, and have never had a fusing issue unless the customer was running thicker paper at the standard paper setting.

Yep that's a pretty common issue - if there's enough buildup on the roller you can peel it off in one piece (if it's warm enough). It can even lead to funny noises

As I was reading your message i was thinking it must be those rollers as I have seen that in the past as well, then I read that it actually was lol.

Just a heads up this happens on the i series exit roller idlers. Had a few c750i machines putting these indentations on the prints. To be clear it’s the idlers on the rollers that exit the paper either onto the tray or into the finisher relay unit.
