C308 has black specs on page-just installed a new black drum

This customer has a Konica C308 that has black specs on the page. They say thy changed the black drum. They also say there is a pink line on the page.

I haven't done a Konica in years. I'm about to go out and see the machine. I don't know if there are any know issues that would pertain to these problems. Just trying to be a little prepared.

just clean clean clean.
clean laser slit glass, fuser etc..
i have seen though developer particles embedded in the transfer roller.
the charge rollers are less than perfect on the drum units, any contaminant and its leaving lines.
this is where the konica warranty comes into play. most of the time they dont even want the drum back, just a sample and the maint report.
if you arent an authorized dealer it would be a good time to make friends with one.

If they are using compatible toner this will be the issue.

Could also be poor fusing if they are printing on heavy paper & not setting the tray appropriately.

'Pink' lines as you know could could simply be the magenta drum.

A good cleaning helped. Thanks, Synthohol.

However the color drum units are at zero. I found out that this is a rental from another company in another city that we're doing the service. I had the customer contact that company and ask for some drums as well as the cloth that goes on the end of the laser slit glass cleaner. The end came apart while I was cleaning the slit glasses on the laser units.

The machine seems to be set to default duplex. I used to know how to make everything non-duplex but have quite forgotten how. Also the time is way off. I tried to change the time zone (CST is -6) but that didn't work. Customer isn't asking about that. I just like the time on all machines to be correct. The machine is also also set to drawer two as the default paper tray. I checked the drawer order but that didn't change anything.

It has just been so long from that last time I worked on a Konica.

What is the developer life at? You said OEM toner but what about drum? Did you go there for this problem or did it start after replacing drums?

What have you done so far besides changing drums? What was print quality like before replacing drums? I would look at developer or bad toner. These are 2 most common things that would cause speckling. You posted toner is OEM but I've seen aftermarket toner in OEM counterfeit boxes. I would try a different K drum and / or developer unit.
