does it come right back after setting dip sw 3-1 to 0?
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
              The medication helps though...

Mine will return anywhere from 20 min to an hour after the dip sw is reset. Someone suggested it might be a voltage issue from the wall.

Looking in service manual the first thing I would check is the lamps

C-3906 Classification Main body: Fusing sensor abnormality Cause Fusing temperature sensor/4 (TH4): temperature abnormality (Hard)
TH4 detects the fusing abnormality detection 6. Measures to take when alert occurs The main body and the option stop immediately. Estimated abnormal parts
                  • Fusing temperature sensor/4 (TH4)
                  • Fusing heater lamp /3 (L3)
                  • Printer control board (PRCB)
                  • AC drive board (ACDB)
Correction Be sure to change the software DIPSW3-1 from 1 to 0 and turn OFF/ON the sub power switch (SW2) of the main body after fixing the defective parts.

                  Note
                  • If DIPSW3-1 is set to 0 before defective parts are fixed, it may cause fire.

TH 4 Can get pretty gooped up and torn. I would suggest going in and replacing TH4. While in there, replace the auxiliary roller and it's related bushings and bearing as well as the cleaning sheet.
