This machine has been doing this off and on and will stop doing it for months and then start doing it again. It is very sporadic and usually only does it once or twice a day or usually only a couple of times a week. Kind of looks like high voltage shorting out for a second and we put a new kit in it not too long ago, it did it before and after the kit. I have attached an example of it and paper is traveling in direction of the arrow I put on the sheet, we told the customer it is hard to diagnose if it only does it a few times a week.

Re: Kyocera 7002i thick solid black line
replace the transfer belt, The kyocera rep that Handels Wisconsin and Illinois gave a webinar on trouble shooting with a sample like that
and it was the transfer belt.

Re: Kyocera 7002i thick solid black line
Tough problem at this rate. I would think also high voltage sparked intermittently.

Re: Kyocera 7002i thick solid black line
If you look at the sample you provided, the black stripe has a margin, it does not go to the edge of the page. That tells me this is a scan issue and not a print engine problem. If it was a print engine issue it would extend to the edge of the page, since you have the margin it is caused by a scan issue. Thoroughly clean the optics. It is probably a "dust bunny" that gets in the way of the optics path on occasion. Hope this helps.Comment

Re: Kyocera 7002i thick solid black line
I've seen this resolved by the developing unit. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Kyocera 7002i thick solid black line
I fixed this problem yesterday. It was kicking my butt for awhile until it became more frequent. Its the ground bearing for the drum shaft. I was able to confirm the problem before I cleaned it and then after. Pull out the shaft and pull off the drum motor. Clean the bearing and the shaft where the bearing sits. If you have a new bearing use it. Once I cleaned the bearing the continuity was firm. At first a though the problem was with ground to neutral high voltage. I was getting from my Sure Tester anywhere between 1.5 to 10 volts. It would start first thing in the morning and then go away after the first 50 copies with about 5 copies having the black bands. Happen every morning and then go away.
BTW- I was getting no continuity off the bearing before I cleaned the bearing and shaft. As the bearing moves it makes for a good ground hence the reason why it only happens on start up first thing in the morning. Machine has 3M plus on it.
Good luckComment

Re: Kyocera 7002i thick solid black line
Sorry to report that the Drum ground did not resolve the issue. Went back to the account and had the same black stripes as shown on your sample. Needless to say I was Bummed out. The Drum ground continuity is good after I cleaned the bearing and shaft but to be on the safe side I replaced it anyway. The Drum and DV units were also replaced but did not help with this issue. Im going to replace the connector for the main charge plus the HV board. Need to remove the Drum shaft again to remove the Main charge connector. At this rate I can do it with my eyes close. Will update you if that worksComment
