[Misc] Toners not recognised TA-3554 ci. Oops, I broke it.

    IMG_2931.jpg

I was working on a TA-3554ci last week and had to remove the solenoid operated toner door unit (PARTS COVER FRONT CONT CLR L ASSY SP) and when I refitted it I neglected to refit the plug to the solenoids. The next day the machine ran out of M toner and refused to open the door. I returned to site, discovered my issue, reinserted the plug and replaced the empty toner.
Unfortunately now the machine is telling me I have non genuine toners installed. KFS tells me this has been the case since the day before when I left the plug undone.
Somehow this is now a permanent message and nothing I've done has resolved the situation.
Things I've done so far include
Remove all toners and restart machine, then reinstall. - NG
Backup machine and do a full reset U21 - NG
Reload firmware Ver 3.451 minus ESskip file. - NG
Heading back there Monday with a full set of toners. I dont have any confidence this will fix it.
Any tips or tricks to get this out of its loop much appreciated.

You might try 906'n it. It may not help but it won't hurt either.

If I were to guess, I'd guess that the U021 reset cleared the speed upgrade code, so it won't accept that toner, and it will run at 25ppm. I suspect that you'll have to call the hotline to get the speed upgrade code re-entered.

Do you have any experience with this Thayer? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If so, this will save a lot of time chasing your tail. Genius.

When you removed and reinserted the toners, did you push the tabs on the sides forward before reinserting? I have seen this error and pushing the tab forward fixed it. I think it's the one on the right that covers the red square.

This is incorrect. You have one opportunity to change the speed, and once that decision is made there is no changing it. Ever.

I'd guess the serial numbers on the existing cartridges won't work any longer. Replacing them probably will resolve it.
                    Hope that helps !

It is discussed here all the time without any further system background knowledge. Tmaged's answer might be correct if the toner log had been published. Without real data, we're all just using our crystal balls.
As I have suggested several times, analysis would simply be easier using U000 data.

Every time I had messages like this ,with genuine toners installed , it was always the case of the toner cartridge contacts on the machine side were bent or out of position. This was with the smaller mfp's . e.g M6535. Would be interesting to see what was the fix for this situation.

on new systems, unknown toner message is coming up if empty cartridge would installed several times.
in this case systems write "mark" on the rfid chip and you always get the message "unknown"...have had this several times.
For analysing the event log needed, because there you can see serial numbers and how often each cartridge would installed.
