Having trouble w/ Sharp AR-337 RADF - timing issue?

It jams in the feed section about 1 in every 40-60 pages. All the feed rubber is new. 170k sheets registered in the ADF counter (since new).

It looks like a timing issue...like the belt and the feed rolls are out of sync. Lots of OG_ST (transport jam) and EXT (exit jam) jams in the register. The symptom is a crinkling of the paper and a mis-feed: the paper is pushed all the way through the feeder section, but only partially in to the transport section.

I am really at a loss to figure this one out. I don't think there is a mechanical failure. There is a one-way bearing in the feed rolls but a failure there should result in the opposite effect (I think). Apparently no other one-way bearings. The belt is relatively new.

The only thing left, I think, is to replace the ADF board, but I have to pay for it and it seems like a crap-0shoot. Hytech tech support had no suggestions.

Anybody here experience this trouble before?

    Thanks!

This series was before my time but i was sent on a call once and i think i ran sim 53-1 and 53-2 and it got the DF working a bit better. I was having a hell of a time getting this thing ready for a rental, DF was jamming like crazy, all rubber was cleaned. Ran those commands and it made it through the rental. Also make sure the reflective plates are clean on the optical sensors. They get dusty and clouded.

    53-1
Used to adjust the document stop position in each operation
    mode of ADF/RADF. (Target model:

    AR-250/280/285/335/405)

    53-2
Used to adjust the optical sensor sensitivity in the
    ADF/RADF. (Target models:

    AR-250/280/285/335/405/501/505)

      Thanks.

Yeah, I cleaned all the sensors and reflectors and then re-calibrated them via Sim 53.

I wish it were that simple. I tried to get a phot of the jam before quitting time, and ran over 100 pages through with no jams! But I know I'll get a call tomorrow informing me that the problem still exists.

      Gotta love this business!

Those jam codes cover a lot of mileage. I'll try to cover it all.

jam EXT is usually caused by a worn delivery roller (0CW2214P331//) and one-way timing pulley (0CW2214P328//). Order both, and don't waste your time with cleaning and/or lubrication. By the time you get jamming its too late.

        jam OG_ST has several possibilities.
Dusty or mis calibrated sensors like Lawrence says.
Just barely actuated left side door actuator. The paper buckle puts enough pressure on the door open the interlock. As a test hold the door closed with your hand and run it.
The original machines had a black rubber piece adhered to the separation mylar. After a while it will shift, obstructing paper passage.

        That's a good start. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks, Blackcat, I think that's what's going on with this one. I'll comment back when I get them installed.

Just a follow-up for the archive. I replaced the exit roller and exit roller bearing as recommended and I go to say it sure smoothed out the operation of the whole unit. Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem at hand, which was at the other end of the RADF. So I replaced the 1-way bearing at paper pickup and, with a new transport belt, the ADF is working as well as it ever did.
