I have just spoken with dad, he is the only one on the list for tomorrow, he will be going down at about 8am tomorrow, I am so scared

Debs, I know its scary. I have been where you are now. Its ok to be scared. I believe everything will be ok. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

this is not something i would ordinarily do as i am not religious, but both of my parents are.
My dad is having a big operation on wednesday, the procedure is likely to last 5-6 hours, he is 76 years old and has previously had 4 heart attacks, so falls into a high risk category. I know he would appreciate any prayers that you can offer up to him, and if, like me, you don't believe in god, then sending positive thoughts this way would be great. Thanks

Debs I was in the spot your in with my late father many times. It's never easy and always scary. You've got all of us doing what ever each of us does (prayers,faith karma, ect) to help you and your dad get through this OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The important thing to think on right now is that it is something that the doctors can do something about. A couple of years ago, my wife's grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and given three weeks. It seems he had a prostrate cancer that had been undiagnosed and metastasized to his bones. Had it been detected while it was still just a prostate cancer, they could have done something. He lasted just over three weeks. My oldest daughter was at his bedside when he passed.

I am on the late list too, but I said a prayer as soon as I read your post.


Faith can move mountains, but I have also seen mountains move faith - don't be suprised if you find yourself believing in a "God" if our prayers help your father.

Bear in mind that you do not have to be religious to believe that a "God" of some sort exists. Religion is a rule book, one that may help you live in a certain way, but God will be there for you as soon as you turn toward her - regardless of whether or not you read the book
