if they could put a S1 internal finisher in a 3170 we could just lock this thread, because there couldn't possibly be anything worse than that.
I hear you brother. I do believe they worked very hard to make the IR2016 as close as possible to complete crap as well.

Having worked on all these Canon junkers except the C3100 I will agree with you however the CLC 700, 800 series were parts hogs, and dont forget the NP 4540 ! Xerox A625 colour unit of the early 90s. I scratched a drum with a piece of paper.

To me those are my nightmares.

you cant be talking about those things with the wax paper 'originals' that were made with typewriters all those years ago surely

A note from an old timer---the Apeco Superstat. This used zinc sulfide paper and liquid dispersant and toner. The paper was rolled and had a convoluted paper path going back and forth between multiple rollers. When it jammed (which was often!) you literally had to lift one end of a roller to get the fan folded paper out ( by removing the end bushing). And lets not talk about paper cutter problems. An old friend had one national account that dumped one in his territory. He couldn't fix it in the field, so took it back to his shop. On the way some one cut him off, he slammed on the brakes and dumped the machine. Funny thing---it must have twisted the frame so that then it almost never jammed again!

Ok I like to post here every once in a while.
The two biggest POSes that I ever worked on have to be the Xerox 5046 (We called the 5046 the worlds first Disposable Copier, use it for a month and then throw it out and get a new one) and Xerox 1065. The 5046 and its Child (the 5335) was like a baby 1065.
Who designs a copier with a plastic cover over the main boards that is coated with conductive paint, we like it when the paint chips fall onto the boards and short them out.
Who designs a Fuser Agent Pump that works on air pressure and spills Silicone based oil onto the floor and turns every account into a skating rink?
Loved working on that machine, it built character and increased my customer skills to the nth degree.

The Canon ImagePRESS C1. I wish my wife went down as much as this one has. It has been such a dog that the Company BBC Digital Berwicks that sold it to me has refused to honor the service contract 3 years into a 5 year rental and has only done 555978 A4 clicks.
    C1 and Berwicks woof woof
