[Misc] Random yellow patern after developer refurbishment?

Hello I did had a couple of problems with my c258 and it came down to yellow developer, since the cost of replacement is big enough and the problem showed up before it even reach 50% of life (78% according to the consumables page), I would prefer to get a newer machine than replace it, so I got a tech to refurbish the one I already had.

This seem to have given me some extra life there as it started printing ALMOST like it used to, the only problem is that I did noticed a light yellow pattern left on everything I print, even on areas that don't have any print on it. I mean I can print A4 size on a SRA3 and the white area (withing the printing area) is covered with light very very small yellow dots.

Barely noticeable but I'm sure I have seen this again in the past and I did fixed it somehow. The thing is the techs are on holidays now and I can't reach anyone to ask.

Any tip on what to try?

I have already done 4-5 gradations, this persists. The drums are all 82% life left, but I have used K ones with the trick to replace the chips and plastic sides. Transfer belt have a bit of damage from some weird stock I used but it too is relatively new at 80%.
Waste toner box is emptied, but I have never replaced it.

    Thank you!

Have you got a sample to show the issue ?

Have a look at how often it repeats (if it repeats) that should the narrow down possibilities

What are the levels under state confirmation in service mode, is yellow much higher or lower than the other 3 colors?

If aftermarket developer, toner or drum is used that can cause the issue you describe. You can rule out transfer belt & fuser since issue is only one color.

You can try and swap yellow drum with cyan or magenta and see if issues follows to that color? If so you know it's a drum issue.

it is random and cover the whole area, also so small and faint that I have to scan and crank up contrast to show it, it is not gonna help much.

the levels history show all around 8, only C is a bit lower at 7.

The developer is original just remade with new particles dust, maybe I should let it print a few more to "settle" or something?

Those levels are a little high but not enough to cause serious problem. Target levels are around 6.5%

If just the developer powder was replaced then it was aftermarket, there is no OEM (original) developer avialable for this model.
Did you swap the yellow drum with magenta or cyan and see if issue follows? This is a very easy way to see if drum issue or not, plus it doesn't cost $$$ !

Yre we talking about the "fingerprint" pattern that contains the serial number in some sort of repeating yellow dots?

If you're worried about the cost of the DV units you can simply modify the black to fit as colour (black units are a lot cheaper than colour)

I think you just need to swap the front cover and then use it like a color dev unit. Chip is the same. After installation you'll need to run quite some yellow test prints from service menue to drain out the initial black toner from the dev unit.

                    Did I miss it? I don't see a sample. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

After replacing color dev unit with less expensive black unit run 50 halftones in service mode using 11x17 paper, after around 40 pages it will start changing from black to color.

The consumables life is only subjective, let's say the developing unit could be at 70% and have made only 50k copies but this is only refferential as it could be installed back in 2018, sounds like there is a leakage or as already mentioned the "fingerprint" pattern that contains some information about the machine but that shouldnt be visible.
Do us a favor and scan-post some pages with the issue and also post the consumables page from the copiers web interface.

                          just my .02
dunno if i missed it but did you happen to run the background data reset and stabilize before doing gradations?
                          it may help.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
                          The medication helps though...

Hey sorry for not replying but for whatever the reason I never got any notifications in my email.

The issue fixed itself after printing a bit so I guess it was just needed a bit of break in to get things shorted, maybe the way the K to Color need to do some prints first, as mentioned bycopyman
