or my favorite from the olden days, the ants marching to the picnic on the warm up screen.
then with a FW update it was gone only later a rocket ship take off was supposed to keep us amused as it warmed up.
bring back the ants! there was another one from long ago and seems those brain cells are gone and i cant5 remember.
    maybe other animals a circus?
im sure someone here will either confirm my insanity or remember as well and i wont have to wear the self hugging canvas jacket.
We usually took away those screwdrivers because we didn't want techs turning pots!

my first mentor was a product specialist (and later a trainer) so i was privy to all the possible adjustments on the machines that were not supposed to be done by techs.
lol, running f-3's with light blue paper so the worn out drum printed like new until the new one came in.
i still have this EP2030 guy on my porch. customer gave it to me as a tip when he upgraded.

Ouch! It's painfull to look at, put sheet back over it "Most" of those EP series were horrible and I still have nightmares about them. I actually went to EP300 & EP310 school in Ramsey NJ. Week long school was in a hotel close to "Minolta" headquaters in Ramsey. This was long before the Konica Minolta merge so can't blame Konica whose machines were even worse back then.

Same here. brasso and tarnite on brown bathroom paper towels really did the job on those 145 drums. it worked on the softer drums too just had to be less aggressive.

Here's some of the old tools I still have, I used to repair cash tills, and the note holders always popped up, so you couldn't open the drawer....the long bit of metal I fabricated so I could open the drawers, the next item was used to take the pressure off of Rexel shredder gear boxes, before they were stripped down. The next 2, I've had all of my working life, over 40 years, I still use them, they're for fitting circlips into awkward places - they were made in Western Germany, by a company called Walther, as you can see, one has lost it's handle, but still works. I hate the modern circlip applicators.....

Speaking about stuff the old techs were exposed to, what about Fedron. How are we still alive!

i used blanket wash for over 20 years bare handed. my hands were white at the end of the day.
how much i used on the rag depended on how close the customer was hovering.

There were some calls where the customer was bitching when I got there about how long it took to get service. After using Fedron they were high as a kite and had a smile on their face when I left......

My supervisor used that on a machine he was helping me with. The customer was getting bitchy so he loaded some up on rag and went to work. I had to fight back the laughter.

April 1989 for me. I started on the Mita DC313 when it was new, all the way before to the Mita 800D/900D with the zinc oxide coated paper.
