    C224e Anomaly

    Good morning everyone,
I have a problem with a c224e with this error on the screen:
" only black and white printing is now possible" and "fax cannot be used currently"
it prints and copies in color the same and fax is not even installed.
Can anyone give me a tip?
    Thanks

    try a trouble reset?
    may be hdd related?
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

Maybe a battery is due or HDD as Synthohol mentioned.

lets see the most recent trouble, warning and jam codes before any surgery, maybe a clue there.

Normally "cannot be used" is when something is disabled in service mode regardless of whether or not that thing is installed. Check problem unit isolation set.

Are any of your color consumables past life? You'll need to replace those, before turning off that function.

              CORRECTION:
Oops! I see that you can print in color. hmmm, are you using user ID's and maybe have a limit set?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

What have you done prior and missed to tell us?
With 4e series most of strange things happen with backup battery going flat. It's 2477 button type battery not hard to see on MFP board.

Don't think is has anyting to do with battery. If time, date & meters are correct then it's not battery. I would look more at an overlife consumable, etc

good morning and thank you all for your interest.
I have been a konica technician for about 5 years.

consumables are 70% drum and 90% developer.
                      no active user authentication setting

                      life stop off

it is an anomalous thing for me, also because as I wrote it prints and copies in color without problems..
there is also an error fax is currently unavaiable even if no fax card is installed

tsbservice (I can't figure out where the battery you say is located, can you help me? Thanks)

its a coin type battery soldered to the MFPB probably covered in green or yellow plastic immediately to the top right of the SSD board.

ok thanks I was doubtful it was that one...
never changed this battery, do I have to take some precautions or just replace it with another one?
                            Many thanks

When soldering. The battery gets hot. If possible use some kind of heat sink. Maybe hemostats? Taped so the metal doesn't touch the board.
